Bethany could no longer stay still in the bed, so she decided to get a shower and make the best of her time here. Clearly Ruben didn't care about her whereabouts any longer, so there was no reason for her to stay cooped up in the hotel room and sulk while he was out doing god knows what with his new play thing.
She entered into the bathroom and turned on the shower as hot as the water would go. As she stripped off her clothes, Bethany found herself staring at herself in the large mirror, and was disgusted at the appearance of the girl staring back at her. Her face was pale, and the purple circles under her bloodshot eyes forced Bethany to quickly look away from her reflection.
No wonder Ruben no longer wanted anything to do with me; I'm appalling.
She wiped the lone tear that fell from her eye at that thought, and stepped into the scolding water of the shower. It burned her skin as it flowed over her body, and she slightly flinched at the contact, but she made no move to adjust it. She would rather feel the pain it was bringing to her, than the sadness that was previously consuming her.
The intensity of it helped her body relax, and by the time she concluded the shower, she felt slightly better, but that could be due to the fact that her skin was numb at that point.
Bethany decided to put a little effort into her appearance today, to try and brighten her mood. She couldn't remember the last time she did anything to her hair, or applied more than a swipe of mascara. But she had to do something today so that she didn't look like a walking zombie out in public. She was glad that the hotel room supplied a blow dryer and straightener, otherwise she would certainly be out of luck.
It took her about 20 minutes in order to blow dry and straighten her hair, and apply makeup to her deathly looking face, but Bethany was content with the result. Even though she felt terrible on the inside, at least she didn't look like it on the outside at the moment.
Leaving the bathroom, Bethany rummaged through her bag and pulled out a pair of tight jeans and a blue V-neck top, along with a black cardigan that she hadn't worn in ages. She wasn't even sure how half of the items that she had ended up in her bag, but she assumed Ruben was responsible, from all the times he broke into her apartment to obtain clothes for her.Her stomach lurched at the thought of Ruben, and she immediately pushed him aside. She was going to have a good day, and certainly wasn't going to allow some demonic angel ruin it, like he had everything else in her life lately.
Stupid Ruben.
Bethany slipped on her shoes after getting dressed and grabbed her key card and wallet before heading out the door. She felt lighter and more at ease as she stepped out of the hotel for the second time today. She had no idea what to do with her time, seeing as she still wasn't hungry after her breakfast a few hours ago. So, she decided to partake in a few drinks this afternoon; she definitely needed, and deserved them with everything she had gone through recently. She just had no clue where to get them at.
As she wandered aimlessly on the streets, coming across nothing but a bunch of fancy looking restaurants, she finally found a decent looking bar called Seven, and she decided to settle for that one. She no longer had any desire to continue walking in search of another.
Bethany walked in the door, and took a seat at the semi-crowded bar. Looking up at the clock on the wall, and was surprised it was this crowded when it was only noon.
"What can I get for you?" A young-looking man behind the bar asked her.
She took in his appearance and was almost baffled at how attractive he was. His sandy blonde hair hung loosely down his face, and it contrasted with his semi-tan skin that made him look as if he were glowing. She then noticed his beautiful blue eyes, that were radiating as the light hit them. Needless to say, she was stunned.
