"Now this is your last year of school, let's make it great. There is no more time for hesitation, if you have any questions or concerns, I'm all ears. I'm willing to help you all be the best you can, as long as you put in the effort and get your shit together." Mr. Mason's voice was deep and sultry.

My eyes followed him as he walked around the class room. His navy blue, button up shirt was fitted to reinforce he has a fit body. He slightly loosens his slim, black tie and rolls up his long sleeves before taking a seat at his front desk.

He asked us to pull out the novel that we supposedly 'read' in the summer, given to us by our previous English teacher for homework. The book's name was 'The Fiftieth Gate'. It's our text for the final school exams, so I guess I should read it...

"Can I please ask you to tell us how the novel made you feel?" Mr. Mason was staring straight at me.

I'm not sure if he got mistaken and thought I was one of those students who actually gave a fuck... But now I have to bull shit my way through this.

"What's your name?" He asks.

I take a deep breath before managing to let out a few words, "I'm Annabelle. The book was so interesting." I respond, I have no idea what else to say.
"Okay Annabelle, what part did you find the most interesting?" He asks, crossing his arms, again putting me in an awkward position.
I lean back in my chair and look out the window, "I don't know. The part where, like, the guy does the thing, and all that stuff happens", I look back at him and smirk, "I like that part".

He grins back before rolling his eyes, "alright well can anyone help Annabelle out? Preferably someone who has actually read the book", Mr. Mason asks the class.

Some time passes before I decide to shut my eyes for a little bit, this is too boring.

A gentle nudge is felt on my shoulder as I slumber on the classroom desk. Another nudge makes me jump, "Yep, it's irony", I mumble, hoping it's the right answer.

I rub my eyes and look around to see an empty class room. I must've slept through the whole double. I look to my left and see Mr. Mason.

"You're lucky it's the first day, I'll cut you some slack for sleeping through my class. Get up, go to recess Annabelle." He says in that beautiful, deep voice.
I nod, grab my bag and exit the classroom, doing a nervous laugh as I leave. Smooth.

I put my books away in my locker and then walk into the cafeteria area to find my friends. I spot Iyesa and Sammy sitting with the rest of our group.

I take a seat with them and greet them all. I see the usual Noah, Chelsea and Phoebe sitting with Iyesa and Sammy.

Noah's the quieter one in our circle, he has messy shoulder length, light brown hair, green eyes and lightly tanned skin. He's really sweet and funny, a great friend to tell my problems to, and I know I can trust him to not say a word to anyone else.

Chelsea's a bright girl, we always go to her when we have homework or assignment problems. She has amazing, curly black hair and sweet hazel eyes. Her darker complexion is beautifully sun kissed, and she's blessed with a slim tall figure, just like a model.

Phoebe's more on the creative side. She's similar to me with arts but she always prefers herbal alternatives and weird shit like that. She's usually high off her face anyway. She has long blonde hair and baby blue eyes, she's a little shorter than us but still got the same amount of personality.

"Annabelle! Tell Noah how drunk you were on the weekend, he doesn't believe me!" Sammy laughs, slapping me on the back.

"I don't know what you're talking about, I had like one slip", I respond, laughing back at him.

Noah gives me a funny look before laughing, "who am I kidding, this girl's drunk every weekend." He smiles at me.

As we continue joking, eating and re-telling stories from the holidays, I look over Phoebe's shoulder. In the distance I can see a boy by him self, I recognise him. From where?

He looks really attractive, wearing simple black skinny jeans and a loose grey t-shirt with his nice Nike shoes and a cap.

The boy from the party!
