*Lexi's POV*
*~*~*~*
Just looking at the boy reminded me of the tragedy that had happened 11 years ago, which could've either been considered the worst day, or the best day ever.
-FLASHBACK- (11 years ago)
I looked at my mother, who looked even worse this time. I was only six, but I was old enough to know she wasn't getting better, no matter how many times our father said she would be okay.
I went on my tip-toes to get a better look, my younger brothers Jay and Kay doing the same, the curious three year olds wanting to see their mother.
I heard the front door of the house open, and I stood back normally, turning to the twins.
"You guys stay here, I'm going to go look at something."
The little boys looked at me with wide, blue eyes that were identical to our mother's. My eyes were hazel, just like our father's.
"Okay." They said simultaneously.
I tip-toed down the stairs, where I saw my father holding a bunch of luggages. I stayed crept on the stairwell, so he wouldn't notice my small figure.
Once he walked out the door, I slipped out, hiding behind a bush as I watched him lock the door behind him.
He looked around suspiciously, and I shrank back into the bush, knowing he saw me slip out.
A few seconds later, he shrugged it off and walked inside the car, and I slipped into the trunk, which he had forgotten to close.
I heard him curse as he got back out the door, and I hid behind a big luggage. He closed the trunk and got back into the car, starting it up.
I was bumping around in the trunk, adrenaline running through my veins as I was excited about my first 'super spy mission'.
The car stopped, and I looked out the window, seeing the airport near our house in my face.
The trunk opened, and fear struck me. I knew I was going to be caught.
Once the luggage I was hiding behind was gone, I looked up at my shell-shocked father, who's pale face was staring at me.
He quickly turned around, pulling him luggages behind him, leaving me in the open trunk of the car.
I saw him talk to someone, the guy pulling out a bunch of bills. My father pulled out his car keys and handed them to the new guy.
I jumped out of the car and followed him, the other guy going to the car and driving away.
"Daddy! Where are you going?" I shouted behind him, but he ignored me and walked a little faster.
I ran after him, pushing through some people, trying to get to my father, who was already through the security.
Trying to run through the security, I was stopped by an officer, who tried to calm my upset exterior.
I was confused, why would he just leave? Once I had calmed down a bit, I started to walk away, out of the airport. I got some weird looks from people, but no one stopped to ask.
As I wander around, I stumbled upon a park. It was pretty empty, with only a few families there playing. There was an ice cream parlour on the side, looking very old, but open.
I sat on a swing and cried a bit, not knowing why I was ignored and left without even a word said to me.
I felt someone walk up to me.
"Hello!" A little boy said. "I'm Noah! What's your name?" He asked, looking at me with curious ocean-blue eyes.
I looked back at him. He looked around my age.
"Alexis," I said timidly. "But I let people call me Lexi."
He thought about it for a bit. "I like your name, but I want to have a special name for you." He paused. "Do you like Angels?"
"Yeah." I looked down at our intertwined hands.
"Ok, Angel." He said cheekily, making me blush.
"I like your eyes." I suddenly said and then he was the one who blushed. "They remind me of the ocean." I marvelled.
He blushed again. "Thanks." He hesitated, a little nervous. "Do you want to play with me? I would like some company."
I smiled at his kindness. "Sure!" I exclaimed, not wanting to be sad anymore.
He took my hand in his and we ran around the park, laughing and shouting together. It was the best day ever.
I had made my first friend in six years.
Everyone my school hated me. They called me names because they knew of my dying mother. I don't know why they did that, but it made me start to resent myself.
This was the first fun I had in my life.
*~*~*~*
Over the next seven days, Noah and I played in the park together. I brought Jayden and Kayden with me too, and they became very good friends too. But not as close as Noah and I were. Not even close. We were almost inseparable, and I loved every moment of it.
But on the last day, Noah walked up to me, with sad eyes.
"I'm moving." He said sadly.
My ears blocked, and my world felt fuzzy again. He was my only source of light in this dark world. My eyes welled up as I looked at his guilty face.
He looked up at me, with a hopeful look on his face. "Maybe I'll see you again?" His eyes were shining.
Very quickly, I hugged him, squeezing him as tightly as I could, as if that would keep him with me. "I hope so."
I kissed him lightly on the cheek, and his cheeks turned bright red as he blushed. He looked down, smiling, and waved, walking back towards his house.
Once he was out of view, I started walking back home myself, keeping the tears in my eyes.
I really hoped I could see him again. Maybe sometime soon.
I didn't, and soon I myself had to move away with my mother, to a better hospital where she could stay at.
