A quick Author's Note before I start
1. I don't own Danganronpa (in case you couldn't guess) or Monokuma. I own my OCs and the plot.
2. Constructive criticism is welcome.
3. I'm not going to stop writing A Blessed Curse. There'll be regular updates for both stories unless I forget.
Enjoy reading!

A boy with messy black hair squints his cyan eyes while looking up at the tall building that is Hope's Peak Academy.
He looks back down at the letter he holds in his tanned hand, re-reading it for the umpteenth time. Sometimes he still believes that the content of the letter might change the moment he takes his eyes off it, but it's still the same.

You have been scouted by Hope's Peak Academy as the Ultimate Chess Player, which recognizes you as the most talented high-schooler in this field. We invite you to join us at Hope's Peak Academy.

The Ultimate Chess Player: Kimura Ren
Attending to Hope's Peak Academy, for most people it was nothing but a far-away dream, but for Ren it has become reality.
He tucks the letter in the pocket of his jeans, which he wears with a short-sleeved white hoodie he usually leaves unzipped, a black shirt with a white pawn, white trainers with black laces and checkered wristbands, and tries to smooth down his hair. It has always be a pain to deal with, but today took the cake. One strand of hair on the middle of his head is sticking right up, defying all the laws of gravity.
Sighing, Ren quits his futile attempts to flatten that certain strand of hair and tucks his hands in his pockets 'Let's go.'
But the moment he sets foot on the grounds of Hope's Peak Academy, the world starts spinning. Ren realizes he's falling before everything turns black.

The raven-haired boy groans when he regains consciousness and rubs his head with an annoyed expression. "Taking a step made me lose consciousness. Lovely!" He grumbles, an obvious hint of sarcasm laces his voice when he says the last word.
Once his sight has returned back to normal, he looks around, taking in his surroundings. It looks like a normal classroom, other than it having surveillance cameras and huge metal plates where the windows are supposed to be. He makes a mental note of those abnormalities and continues scanning the room. He notices that the desk he was previously resting his head on has a note lying on top of it. Ren picks it up.
Congratulations on enrolling
A new term has begun. A fresh start. This school will become the world you guys live in.
The entrance ceremony starts at 8 o'clock. Assemble in the gym. There is a childish drawing on the note. Ren crumbles the paper in annoyance and stands up. Sitting here won't do him any good so he might as well go to this so-called 'entrance ceremony', though he doesn't expect a lot from it, with the welcome he received and the immature note he found. On his way out of the classroom he tosses the paper ball into the trash bin and tucks his hands in the pockets of his hoodie.
When he arrives in the gym, he meets fifteen other people.
"So that makes sixteen." A boy with medium ash brown hair muses, with a serious expression evident on his features.
