Song Of The Chapter:
Lovely (With Khalid) - Billie Ellish

Lance had grown up with minimal human contact. When he was young, his mother would cradle and sing to him of course, but as he grew older, he found himself being torn from her, forced into laboratories for experiments.
Wanting to keep his skin, Lance quickly fell into his father's control. It was the fear of being abused that kept Lance in line, doing whatever was asked of him. He grew scared of any physical contact for a long time. The only exceptions were of his siblings, mother, or Hunk. But even then he was jumpy when caught off guard.
Feeling Keith's arms draped loosely around his waist made Lance think back to those memories.
His trust issues.
Why he was so incredibly open to Keith was a mystery.
"Good morning," Keith said softly, running his fingers against the exposed skin under Lance's shirt. Lance smiled a drowsy smile.
"Morning..."
Keith yawned before stretching, cracking his knuckles.
"Sleep well?"
Lance shrugged. "I suppose so."
A buzz of a phone startled the two. Lance sat up in the bed, viewing the message.

Mamá: I would like you to stop by this morning for a chat. Does that work for you?

Lance typed a response quickly.

Sure, I will be over soon. Want me to bring anything? A coffee from Starbucks?

Mamá: No, no, we are fine here. See you soon.

Keith leaned over to view the messages.
"You going out?"
Lance nodded, silent.
"Want me to come with you...?"
Lance smiled lightly.
"I can manage."
Keith sighed. "Alright, if you're fine, then I plan on going out and seeing what sort of crime I can take care of around the area."
Lance let out a small mock laugh, but it was humorous.
"Good o'l Slate, here to save the day."
"It's my job."
"Point taken," Lance hummed before stripping off his shirt.
Keith bit his lip, observing how Lance's muscles flexed with his movements.
"You need to change somewhere that's not right in front of my face."
Lance smirked, purposefully stretching to show his smooth, tan skin.
"Hmm...? How come?"
Keith groaned, aiming a pillow to throw at the tall brunette.
"You're an idiot."
"You just can't resist me."
Keith frowned, crossing his arms.
"Oh please. I definitely can."
Lance smirked as he stode over to Keith. Keith almost shuddered, feeling Lance's lips brush his skin as he spoke in a low, husky tone next to his ear.
"Liar."
Keith felt his face grow hot, his heart fluttering in his chest.
"Lance-" Keith tried to say in a warning voice, but it came out a lot breathier than intended.
Lance half-grinned, and he pressed a kiss just below Keith's ear, pulling their bodies closer with a tug of Keith's hips before moving down to plant another kiss against Keith's neck.
Keith could feel Lance’s teasing smirk against his skin. Keith let out a small sound, resulting in a small exhale of a chuckle coming from Lance.
The brunette moved up, mouth drawing close to Keith's, his lips parting. But, as Keith moved to close in, Lance dropped back, resulting in a frustrated growl from Keith.
"Lance..."
"I told you so."
Lance let go of his hold on Keith's hips, leaving Keith in a flustered mess, fighting back a protesting whine. Grabbing a clean shirt and throwing it on, Lance waved to Keith.
"Alright, I'm gonna head ou-"
Keith took a fistful of Lance's shirt, tugging the taller boy down to smash their lips together. Lance let out a sound of surprise at Keith's sudden action, but rolled with it. When they parted, Keith was looking at Lance with an irritated expression.
"Fuck you."
Lance's grin was terrible.
"Just gotta prove my point."
Keith let out a huff, flicking Lance's cheek.
"Get out of here."
Lance laughed, nearly being shoved out the doorway.
"LOVE YOU TOO!"
Keith slammed the door before sliding down to the ground, covering his face. He lightly touched his lips, feeling the ghost of Lance's pressed against them.
Was he really that drawn toward Lance?
It was almost embarrassing to think about, but for Lance it was rather flattering. Nobody had liked him like Keith did since... well... forever.
Lance walked the short distance to the bus station, then headed to the train station from there.
Lance looked down at his phone before letting a breath.
