Home Sweet HomeBarely, Valencia began to open her eyes. The slight movement left her blinded by the harsh lights of the training room.
'Really? What can a girl do to get a bed around here' She thought.
She was startled by the abrupt sound of a throat clearing. Instantly, she removed herself from the vulnerable position she lay in and stood up straight.
Turning to the source of the sound, she saw a girl. Slightly taller than herself, most likely 5"8, subtly tanned skin, a smirk plastered on her red painted lips and the darkest black hair she had ever seen. This nameless girl was beautiful in Valencia's mind without a doubt.
"My name is Valencia Redas-" she was cut off.
"I know who you are, doesn't everybody? I'm Isabelle Lightwood but most people call me Izzy" Isabelle spoke.
"As you must know I'm not like most people, I'll call you Belle" the shorter girl responded, testing Isabelle's reaction.
Isabelle remained expressionless for a moment, trying to figure out the emerald-eyed girl's intentions until she broke out in a smile.
"I like you. We're going to be friends, once I break down that false snarky barrier you put up"
This response shocked Valencia, normally her presence either intimidated or star-struck her peers, leaving them defensive or submissive.
'Am I really that see through?' Valencia thought to herself.
"and don't worry, no other shadowhunters will be able to see past it, just the ones who have grown up with Jace."
This girl was truly something, but her last statement resulted in Valencia's list of questions growing, Who the hell is Jace?
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Isabelle guided Valencia out of the training room and into the tech station, computers buzzed and dinged throughout the room.
Isabelle's eyes rapidly searched the room.
"Jace!" She bellowed.
Responding to the call, a boy, who she assumed was Jace, turned to face them. Valencia silently gasped, the boy was the most striking individual she had ever seen, with his golden blonde hair which he moved back with his hand, eyes which Valencia couldn't defer whether they grey or blue, toned arms and chest and pink lips which seemed delicate and soft. Instantly, she felt a strange pull towards the boy - that was until he spoke.
"Who is this?" He asked rather snarkily.
Valencia scoffed and glared at the boy.
"Excuse me?" She responded, offended, taking a step towards the boy.
Isabelle was quick to answer.
"Jace, this is Valencia Redaspen. Valen, this is Jonathan Christopher..." Isabelle stopped and smirked, unsure which name he was going by these days. Valencia turned to her, reminding herself to tell Isabelle to never call her that name again later.
"Jace Herondale, Izzy. Keep up." He said, with an unsettling smile.
"Believe it or not I've heard of you, Jonathan. Michael's son, Valentine's son, Stephen's son. You must have a daddy issue or two" The Brunette girl stated. Jace's body tensed.
"If you wanted to compare daddy issues all you had to do was ask, after all, killing your own father must have been tedious." He replied with a smirk, Valencia's jaw clenched.
Anger boiled in Valencia's veined, she felt her body heat up, her eyes began to glow gold and different runes began to activate. She glided towards him, face to face.
"Mention my past again, you worthless irritating mule, and I'll kill you. Understood?" Valencia spoke quietly, looking at Jace directly in the eyes. The boy appeared to be indifferent.
He stood even closer to Valencia and began to mutter.
"The inquisitor warned me about you, warned us all actually, about your fiery temper. You didn't think the clave would let you off so easily did you?" This confused Valencia, Was there something she didn't know?
Isabelle and the rest of the shadowhunters in the room had wandered off as soon as Jace mentioned Valencia's father, there were alone and the only sound present was Valencia's loud beating heart in her ears.
"Do not test me, Herondale," Valencia spoke slowly as she warned him.
He smirked widely "Oh I wouldn't dare, Valen"
That was the last straw for the girl, she swung her fist towards the boy, he caught it in his hand- as she expected, just as she was about to deliver a second punch with her opposite hand he spoke.
"Dormitior"
She felt herself beginning to become drowsy.
"I'm going to kill that bastard" She slurred knowing exactly what had occurred.
It was a sleeping complusion used for low life criminals who were deemed too dangerous to function. She had watched Magnus perform the spell one too many times to not know it. Pain appeared in her chest once she realised it must have been him, probably as he was pushing her through the portal. At this moment, she promised herself never to trust him again.
"I've got you" Jace muttered as he caught her from falling, bringing her back to reality.
Looking up at him, completely oblivious to the world, she muttered something, something that changed something in Jace's natural annoying persona.
"We're quite similar, you and I" This spiked Jace's interest.
"How so?" He replied.
"Both broken by their own family, sad really"
"You think I'm brok---?" He stopped once he realised she had fallen asleep.
The boy stared down at the girl, unable to stop himself. He knew they were similar. But they had more similarities than they knew.
