Matthew was eating chips and reading a book when Gilbert entered his room, sprawled out across the bed on his tummy, attention barely diverted by the newcomer. The space was cleaner than Gilbert expected it to be, but then, Matthew probably had a maid or something.
"Hey, it's been a while." Gilbert sat down on the bed, feeling awkward.
Matthew nodded, taking another chip from his bag.
"How have you been?"
Matthew shrugged.
Gilbert shifted awkwardly. "So, I'm going to be taking care of you a little for the next few weeks or whatever."
Again, he nodded.
"Do you...remember me at all?"
Matthew bit his lip.
Yep.
He remembered.
"Can I ask...is your butt still crystallized from the last time?"
He snorted, shaking his head.
"Were you exaggerating when you said it crystallized in the first place?"
A nod.
"God, you're funny. I was genuinely worried for a while."
A shrug.
"I have to know...did you miss me?"
Without hesitation, Matthew launched himself into Gilbert's arms, hugging him tightly.
"I take it that's a yes?""Bruder, there you are. I've been waiting for an hour."
"I didn't know you were coming. You should have called first."
"I don't need to call when your always home."
"I can't always be home. What do you want?"
"I need to talk to you."
"About what?"
"The music playlist for my wedding. Feli said yes."
"Of course he said yes. He's been in love with you since forever."
"Are you going to do the music or not?"
"Or not."
"Gilbert, you need to do this for me. You're my bruder."
"I don't have to do anything, really. I'll be your best man, though."
"Kiku is going to be my best man."
"Aw, really? Over your own brother?"
"It would be hard to play the part of a DJ and a best man."
"Then I'll just do the best man part."
"I want Kiku to do it. He'll plan a decent, stay in bachelor party instead of you, who will plan some kind of rager that will get one of us either hurt or killed."
"But doesn't that seem like a good way to go?"
"No."
"I don't even understand why you want music at your wedding since you're so boring!" Gilbert would raise his voice but they were outside his apartment and people would hear.
"Gilbert, either you DJ or don't come to the wedding at all."
"It's a good thing I don't want to go, then."
"Seriously? You don't want to go to your own brother's wedding?"
"Not if I have to DJ."
"Gilbert, you have to get over this fear. I'm trying to help you. Nobody's going to judge you for doing it."
"That's not why I stopped. I didn't feel judged."
"Then why did you stop?"
Because every time he looked into the crowd, he could see Matthew, hands laced with some other guy, looking as happy as he could be. Because the height of the stage started to make him dizzy and nauseous.
"I'm sorry, Ludwig, but it just hurts too much to be up there."Oml
