I'm SO SORRY for not updating in almost a month. I know I only had ONE CHAPTER left but I still failed you all. Anyway, here's the Epilogue you all deserve.
Two Years Later
"You ready, babe?"
"Yeah." Matthew signed, handing his bag over to Gilbert.
Gilbert tossed the bag into the trunk of his beat up, second hand car, pulling Matt in for a gentle kiss.
They were finally doing it, finally taking off, finally leaving this place behind.
Matthew had gone six hundred and forty days without skipping his medication and his therapist had assured Gilbert that he was perfectly fine to live out his life in relative normalcy from then on.
Of course, there would always be bad days. Matthew had hit a few when Gil visited him over the past two years, but that was normal.
Matthew would never be better, not fully, but they could enjoy the days when he felt good, at the very least.
"Did you get everything?" Matthew signed, sitting down in the front seat of the car.
"I'm sure." Gilbert closed the trunk, slipping through the door into the driver seat. Matthew's hand landed on his thigh. He smiled up at him, violet eyes shining. He didn't have to say "I love you" for Gilbert to hear it.
"Mattie, the moment we park for the night, I'm gonna fuck you so hard you can't remember your name."
"Then, I guess I'll have to take yours." Matthew didn't bother hiding the red tint on his face.
Gilbert joined him in his blushing. By fucking GOD he was adorable.
They didn't plan on doing anything special for their wedding. The whole concept of marriage had been soiled for them, but they still wanted to be legally merged. They were going to hit the first town hall they saw and go for it.
Gilbert was about to start the car when he heard a tap on the passenger window. Both himself and Matthew looked up, seeing Alfred just outside the car.
Matthew opened the door and Alfred kneeled down to hug him.
"I was afraid i'd missed you." He said, squeezing his brother tightly.
"We were hoping you would." Gilbert rolled his eyes, chuckling softly. Matthew smacked him.
"HEY!"
"I'm gonna miss you, lil bro." Alfred started to tear up. He had visited Matthew at the facility almost as much as Gilbert had. Sometimes he brought the kid, sometimes he didn't.
"We'll be back for christmas." Gilbert assured.
"Where are you even going?" Alfred wondered.
"Just as far as we can get." Gil shrugged.
"And you're good for money? Because I can etransfer you whenever you're low."
"Thanks. We'll keep in touch,"
"So...uhm...Francis came along...He's waiting in my car because he wasn't sure if you wanted to see him." Alfred let go of Matthew, taking his hands gently. "Do you want to see him?"
Matthew thought for a moment before nodding.
Alfred went off, returning a minute later with Francis in tow.
The frenchman pulled him into a hug, one that was filled with tears.
"I'm so sorry." He whispered. "I was selfish and I should have thought about how you were feeling more."
Matthew nodded, hugging Francis back.
"So...You're really leaving? Going on the road?"
He nodded again.
"Well...I'll see you around. I hope you're happy."
Matthew pushed Francis away so he could sign his reply.
"What did he say?" Francis asked.
"He said," Gilbert translated with ease, "that he'll be doing just fine."
And he would, in the end. Gilbert knew he would.
Matthew -and Gilbert- were going to be better than just fine.
Well, folks, it's over. I'm sorry for losing interest and I'm sorry for not giving you everything you deserved.
I don't think I'm going to be doing Hetalia stuff anymore. I'm kinda on a MHA run now and I'm going to be modifying my old fic ideas for that, but I'll see you all around. I made a lot of friends through the hetalia fandom and had a lot of good times. I wish I could continue, but I'm not really getting anything out of it anymore.
I hope you all continue to read my old stuff and my new stuff. I also have Ao3 now so you can find a few originals there that I wrote with my friend, as well as anything new I put out.
Thank you all for reading this!
Adios!
