The best way to get Matthew to take his meds was to pay him with kisses. He was getting pretty good at taking them over the next few weeks.
He spent his days clinging to Gilbert in everything he did, listening to him play music and watching tv. Every moment they were able to spend together was golden, but Gilbert could feel the time coming to an end. He decided that he needed to make the most of it.
"Mattie, let's go grocery shopping."
Matthew looked up from the tiny tv where he was playing Mario Kart with confusion.
"I need to pick up some groceries. We can go out to eat too. Like a date."
He really perked up at this. He lit up like the sun and Gilbert felt his heart skip a beat.
"Okay, you go shower and I'll find some clothes for you." Alfred had left a bunch of Matthew's stuff at Gil's place that he picked up from Francis. Gilbert hadn't had contact with the Frenchman since Matthew ran off and he didn't intend on trying. He didn't know what Matthew thought of the situation, how he felt. He might hate Francis. Or maybe he didn't care too much.
Matthew finished in his shower and left the bathroom, wrapped in a fluffy towel. Gilbert handed an outfit to him and the two dressed in silence.
"Ready to go?"
Matthew nodded. Gilbert took his hand and headed to the door just as he heard a knock.
"Shit. We have visitors..." Gil really just wanted to leave, but he guessed that he couldn't now.
"Bruder..." Ludwig said the moment Gilbert opened the door.
"Oh...we were just heading out..."
"We?"
"Uh..." Gilbert had been avoiding his brother too. He didn't want to get pulled into the wedding stuff again.
Matthew grasped onto his shirt, pulling him back to real life.
"This is my boyfriend, Mattie."
Ludwig raised an eyebrow. "The same Mattie who you dated two years ago?"
"Uh...yeah..."
The taller German sighed.
"I came to tell you that the wedding is this Thursday. We moved it closer because Feli's brother is going back to Italy for work."
"So..."

"I want you to come, Gilbert. I don't care if you can't do the music. I just want my big bruder there."

Gilbert swallowed. "I'll do your damn music."

"Really?"

"But you need to find backup just in case something happens. I can't promise that I won't start to feel sick."

"Deal." Ludwig smiled.

Matthew tugged on Gil's shirt again. "Oh, right. We were just heading out."

"Sorry. Were you in a hurry?"

"Not completely, but we want to get out before the lunch rush."

"I'll be leaving you, then."

"Thanks." Gilbert pet his brother on the shoulder. He took Matthew's hand and grabbed his keys from the table next to the door. "I'll see you next week."

"Bye." Ludwig walked with them to his car, waving as he climbed in and then drove out of sight.

"Okay, Mattie. You ready for our date?"

Matthew smiled like the sun.

"Of course you are! I'm great."

He rolled his eyes, pulling himself closer to his boyfriend.

Nothing would ever beat this feeling.

I'm sorry for not publishing for a week, but I was really caught up with my Kiribaku which is drawing a lot more attention.
