jihoon was walking next to someone. they were strolling down a path in the park surrounded by bright flowers. when jihoon looked over at the person alongside him, their face was covered with shadow. but jihoon knew he loved this person very much.

their two hands were linked together. jihoon smiled to himself. he felt so happy. he felt simply euphoric.

suddenly, the person let go. jihoon reached out for the hand he'd held moments before, but the person had ran far ahead of him.

jihoon watched helplessly as the person dashed into the embrace of somebody else. somebody else that wasn't him. he looked on in despair as the person he loved shared a passionate kiss with a stranger.

inside jihoon's chest, his heart shattered into a thousand small pieces.

the person looked back at jihoon and smiled coldly. jihoon could see the person's face now.

it was soonyoung.

jihoon sat straight up in bed. it was only a dream... only a dream... soonyoung was in bed next to him... he wouldn't leave...

would he?

tears and cold sweat trickled down jihoon's face. his lips trembled. the hand that held soonyoung's was pulled sharply away. jihoon looked at his sleeping boyfriend and took a jagged, uneven breath.

soonyoung was awakened by jihoon's small whimpers. jihoon's face was stuffed in the blanket they shared as his tears stained it. he tapped his boyfriend's head, frowning.

"jihoon, why are you crying?" soonyoung whispered. jihoon wiped his tears with the blanket and glanced tearfully at soonyoung.

"i had a nightmare... and you... you were there... you left me, just like..." jihoon mumbled, trailing off. soonyoung confidently pulled jihoon into his embrace as he wrapped his arms around him and entwined their legs together. soonyoung stroked his head comfortingly as jihoon continued to cry.

soonyoung pulled away and looked jihoon in the eye. they stared at each other quietly, their faces flushing red.

"i'm sorry, soonyoung. i'm such a burden... and you must hate me." jihoon sobbed quietly.

"It's okay, jihoon. you're not a burden, you never were, and you never will be. i'm here for you," soonyoung said. "i-" he hesitated. as he wanted to avoid silence, he kissed his boyfriend's forehead.

"i love you."

and jihoon didn't pull away.
