Becca POV

I didn't want to be here but Jesse and Kalie had to drag me to the one place I never wanted to be. I loathe the person who was having the party. No loathe was too nice. Despise sounded better. He was standing with Heather as she giggled at something he said. He leaned toward her smiling as he kissed her. So gross. He'll need to disinfect his mouth after kissing her.

"Are you going to enjoy the party or stare daggers at Neil?" Kalie asked as she handed me a drink. I took a sip of the cool beverage hoping the alcohol would take me away into oblivion. I started to chug it down until my cup was empty. Kalie stared with her mouth hanging open.

"Are you trying to get drunk already? We have to watch Jesse and make sure she doesn't drink anything. You know she has a drinking problem. I need you to help me. She already wondered off and Adam wants me to hear their new music that they'll be performing. Please don't make me have to babysit you too."

I looked towards Neil to see him getting his drums set up as the other guys were setting up. Heather went to talk to her friends since Neil was busy. The party was packed with people having a good time and waiting for the guys to set up. Brad's younger brother Matt was helping his brother. I didn't know where Jesse was but her being by herself in a house full of alcohol was a disaster waiting to happen. At least finding her would give me something to do then watch Neil and Heather being lovey dovey.

Adam came up to Kalie to tell her something. She smiled up at him saying good luck and gave him a kiss. He went to stand behind the mic. They were about to start. I better go find Jesse before the crowd got wild.

"I'm going to look for Jesse. I'll bring her back with me." I would try. With Jesse nothing was certain.

Kalie nodded. "Ok. I'll wait here for you. Thanks Becca." I walked towards the kitchen pushing my way through as people got in my way. Adam spoke into the mic. "Thanks for coming out. We're Groundswell and we're working on our debut album that will be out soon. I wrote this song for my beautiful girlfriend Kalie. It's called Poison Ivy."

Everyone I was trying to get through started to jump and yell. Adam started singing as I finally got to the kitchen. People were getting drinks and eating but there was no sign of Jesse. I went back in the living room moving towards the back towards the bedrooms. I pushed and shoved to make my way through.

Take a look, I'll be your man

I look around, all around

And it's you that's in my hand.

Adam sang as I got closer to them. The bedrooms were behind them. Behind Neil and his drum set. I ignored Neil who didn't notice me since he was in the zone playing his drums. He looked amazing.

I'll take you to a place I've seen

You'll never come right back to me

I'll take you to a place I've seen

You'll never come right back to me.

I opened the first door I saw and went in. I didn't know how many bedrooms there were. I knew Neil had a sister and brother. That they went with his mother to visit family in Toronto for the weekend. His mother actually trusted Neil with the house while she was away.

I opened the door and went in. The room was dark so I turned on the light. The band was a distant background noise. The room was surprisingly tidy for being a guys room. The bikini girls and rock band posters gave it away. Drumsticks layed on the floor with papers thrown beside it. I picked up one to take a closer look. It was lyrics to a song he was working on.

The only girl I ever wanted and she doesn't see me.

She sees a sham and not the real man.

Each day my heart breaks but I'll do whatever it takes

to make her feel my pain.

I don't deserve her but I can't let her go.

My sorrow grows but she feeds my soul.

Wow! I didn't know Neil wrote lyrics too. I always see Adam writing in his notebook. I wonder who Neil is writing about. Probably about his precious Heather. I rolled my eyes. I'm sure he has a picture of her somewhere where he can stare and admire her.

Before I could do some more snooping the door opened abruptly. I turned hoping it wasn't Neil. I was scrambling through my thoughts for a good explanation on why I was in his room. The person I was searching for walked in with a beer in her hand.
