Becca POV
"Took you long enough to come in here. Whatcha doing?" Jesse asked as she went to sit on Neil's bed.
"We need to leave and you shouldn't be drinking. You know you get a little drunk because you can't control your drinking." She shrugged her shoulders.
"I know my limit. I just need to relax." She stretched out on Neil's bed. I was about to pull Jesse off the bed so we wouldn't get caught when the door opened. Heather and her so-called friends, the drama queens, walked in pinning us down with their hateful stares.
Heather glanced at Jesse then rested her ice-cold stare at me.
"I don't know what you freaks are doing in Neil's bedroom but he doesn't need a drunk or a stalker in his house. Kalie must have invited you. I don't know what Adam sees in her. He could do so much better. When they become famous they need girlfriends they can show the public. Not have to hide from embarrassment." I could hear the band still playing. I was glad Neil didn't have to gloat about his girlfriend defending him.
"Adam can see through all your lies and fakeness. Kalie is the real deal. She doesn't have to pretend she's someone she's not. Neil, on the other hand, is blind and doesn't see how manipulated and cunning you are. You're about popularity and could care less about anything else. Neil might think you care about him but the only person you care about is yourself. Let's leave Jesse before drama queen has a temper tantrum."
Jesse laughed taking a swig of her beer. "I bet I'm the only girl that's been on that bed. The way he looks at Becca he would only want you so he could stop thinking of her. Maybe I should do the same and find someone to take my mind off things. The beer isn't helping." Jesse put her on hand on Heather's shoulder.
"We are alike. We're both in denial." Heather snapped. She pushed Jesse back away from her. "Don't ever touch me you freak. You are not even close to being in my level. You're down here as a nobody while I'm up here as a somebody. Neil feels pity for Becca but doesn't have romantic feelings. Only in your pathetic dreams will someone like Neil have any feelings for you. He's a somebody. You're a nobody. Go home and stop embarrassing yourself with hopes of something you will never have."
Heather looked at me the entire time. Everything she said she said to me. Realization finally got my attention. I have feelings for Neil because the entire time my heart was breaking. Now I wanted to go home and cry myself to sleep. All for a guy I wanted to hate but deep down cared for. I needed to get away from here. I was doing my best to keep myself together until I could fall apart in the privacy of my own room.
Jesse saw the hurt in my eyes and went up to Heather. "You're right Heather, we aren't alike. I can admit when I'm wrong but you'll tell yourself lies just to stay afloat. Lies can cover the problem but will never solve it. Let's leave these losers." Jesse grabbed my hand and walked with me to the door.
"You're calling us losers? I'm not the one with an alcoholic father. A dysfunctional family and obsessed with a guy that would never want me. Does Brad know your drinking problem runs in the family? My dad is a cop and is always arresting your father for public disorderly. You and your family are the biggest losers in our town. Your family should move so you can stop making our town look bad."
Heather knew she affected Jesse and taunted her with a knowing smile. I was going to pull Jesse out of the room but it was too late. Rage engulfed her and she attacked Heather. Heather screamed and all chaos broke loose.
"Jesse stop! You're better then this!" I yelled but it fell on deaf ears. Heather's friends all attacked Jesse.
"Get off her!" I yelled pulling a girl off her. The guys must have stopped playing and heard the commotion because Neil came in pulling one of Heather's friends off me. She had punched me in the eye and I could only see out of the other. I was going to attack another girl when Neil grabbed me.
"No you don't. No more fighting. What the hell is going on?"
"Get Jesse!!" I said with tears in my eyes. I hoped they didn't hurt her when they attacked her all at once. It made me feel better when I saw her kicking and screaming as Brad pulled her out.
"Let me go. I'm not done with her." Adam, Joe, and Phil were grabbing Heather and her friends and keeping them away from us. Kalie came in and was asking if we were ok.
"I'm ok. I might need ice though. What about Jesse?" Jesse was still yelling at Brad to let her go. He took her out of the room away from Heather. Heather came running to Neil. Her lip was bruised with blood oozing out.
"Becca started everything. Her and Jesse were snooping in your room and refused to leave when I told them they shouldn't be in here. Then Becca and Jesse attack me. If it wasn't for my friends I would be going to the hospital right now." She said. Voice wavering as if she was in distressed. She should go into acting. She was very convincing. Neil turned towards me to get my version. At least he didn't take her word for it.
"I was looking for Jesse and came in here. I didn't know it was your room. If I did I wouldn't have came in. Jesse came in then Heather and her friends followed. Not sure why they were in here unless they saw Jesse come in. Heather started to insult me and Jesse. Heather said mean things about Jesse and about her father being a drunk so she attacked Heather. I was trying to get Jesse off her but her friends decided to help Heather by attacking me and Jesse." I stared at Neil wondering what he would do. He crossed his arms over his chest. He seemed distant. Heather went to him but he raised his hands to stop her.
"Not now Heather. I know how you are. You say mean things when you are feeling threatened. Jesse does crazy things but she wouldn't start a fight unless she was being antagonized and Becca is too nice to be in a fight unless she was helping her friend."
Heather looked at Neil in disbelief. "Are you siding with them and not your own girlfriend?"
Neil stood his ground staring back at Heather. "Right now is not the time. Go home and calm down. I'll call you tomorrow. Everyone go home. Partys over." People groan with all the excitement over. Adam, Joe, and Phil helped get everyone out. Neil would have a big mess to clean. I started to leave to see if Jesse was ok.
"Oh no you don't. We need to put ice on your eye. It looks bad. Are you hurt?" I shook my head.
"It's ok. I'll be fine. I need to find Jesse and see if she's ok." Kalie was silently watching us and came up to me.
"I'll go with you. You do need ice though. Let's find Jesse then get some ice." Neil lead us out of his room. I couldn't believe any of this happened. My parents were going to kill me when they saw my face. Then they would want to interrogate me. I was for sure going to be grounded. I was right. I should have stayed home. Never again would I go to one of Neil's parties.
