Silence.Everyone stood in silence as they just witnessed their king get overthrown by this stranger. Most importantly they were silent for y/n. The princess who watched her father die in the hands of a man she doesn't even know.
"PAPA!" Y/n tiny voice filled the crowd as she ran into the water getting her gown wet. "Y/n! Come back!" Ramonda called out but that didn't stop her from going up to Erik and hitting his legs. "You killed my papa!" All Erik did was just stand there, looking down at her trying to hurt him.
"Sorry lil mama, that's how it works." He backed up a little and y/n fell in the water, crying. "Somebody get her before she hurts herself." Erik ordered as Ayo and Okoye ran over to y/n. Okoye picked her up and cradled her as y/n cried into her shoulder, "Papa's gone."
Okoye couldn't help but let a few tears run down her cheeks as well. This little girl lost her mother and just now her father, and now have a king that's going to ruin her life. Nakia took both Ramonda and Shuri while calling out to Ayo, "Take the princess back inside! Make sure Killmonger doesn't get to her!"
Okoye gave y/n to Ayo before wiping some tears away and following the rest. Y/n was shaking in Ayo's arms while she was dripping wet. She didn't know what to do or think. Now parentless and scared by the new ruler, Y/n just wanted to hide from the world. The man who promised to always be there for her and protect her from anything bad in the world was gone.
The duo made it y/n's room;
"Come on let's get you out of those wet clothes, shall we?" Ayo weakly smiled and turned her back to grab y/n some clothes. Y/n small whimpers were heard and Ayo let some tears drop. The Dora Milaje were told to not cry in front of y/n. Ever.
Other than her father, the Dora Milaje's were her heroes and she looked up to them. In fact, she wants to be one when she gets older! T'challa wanted them to calm down y/n and show her there's nothing to be afraid of when he's not around but if they show any sign of panic or fear then y/n will definitely think something is wrong.
But this is the king.
Everyone adored T'challa and now that he's gone, emotions can not be held in.
No matter how hard they try.
"Ayo?" Y/n bare feet padded over to the warrior. "Y-yes, princess?" Y/n pulled Ayo down to her level and held her cheeks. "Are you crying?" Y/n's eyes were still clouded tears but she was raised to always put others first.
No matter if they are her protectors.
"Don't tell your grandmother!" Ayo chuckled. "I won't. It's okay to cry." That was the signal for Ayo to release everything she held in.
The princess and warrior sat there crying. For y/n to be so young, her emotions and thoughts matured her.
After Ayo got y/n cleaned up and into her pajamas, she tucked her into bed and did the special handshake y/n and the Dora Milaje warriors made up. "Ayo." Y/n stopped her before the light went off. "Yes, princess?"
"I'm scared. What is that man going to do to our home?" She whimpered and tears brimmed her eyes. No one knew what was going to happen with the new king and since T'challa is gone, y/n isn't as safe as she used to be.
And she knew it.
Ayo rushed to her and kneeled beside her, "Y/n dont worry about Killmonger, we'll handle him. He won't harm you. Everyone will make sure of it!" Y/n yawned and nodded at Ayo's words knowing she was telling the truth. "Goodnight, Ayo." "Goodnight my princess."
Y/n turned her back to the door and closed her eyes but the scene of her father being thrown to his death made her open them again. She waited for a while and closed her eyes again but she couldn't get it out of her mind. Y/n sat up in her bed and knew she would not be able to sleep knowing her dad was gone.
Usually T'challa helped her when she couldn't sleep but that wasn't going to happen.
She slipped into her slippers and slowly opened her bedroom door and peeped out.
It was eerily silent which made her more hesitant to sneak out. Y/n slowly closed the door and tip toed to her aunt's room where she heard Shuri and Okoye speak.
"Who is going to look after the princess if we all go? Eh? I am not leaving y/n with Killmonger."
"She is sound alseep in her room and mother will command Ayo and the others to watch her."
"Shuri, I am here to serve under the command of the King and that is Killmonger now!"
Then it went silent.
Too silent.
Y/n hid behind a statue right as Okoye opened the door with her spear in hand. She looked around and huffed before Shuri stormed past her. "Fine! Stay here. Don't you know that you're just letting Y/n down?" Was Shuri last words before she walked away. Okoye sighed and closed her door and y/n peeked out before walking back down the hall.
At this point everyone is in an emotional position with the death of T'Challa and Y/n had no one else to go to.
Except the man who was to blame for all of this.
Y/n got angry again and stomped to what used to be her father's room. She knocked on the door as hard as her tiny fist could and crossed her arms.
No one is going to kill my papa and get away with it!
The door opened and there stood Erik towering over her.
"Lil' Bit, shouldn't you be in bed?"
"Go away!"
Erik chuckeld and rubbed his chin, "You came to my room, actually."
"You killed my Pa. Actually." She glared at him as he squatted at her level. "Look. You're gonna have to learn how to let that hurt go. I won fair and square and besides, I'm more fun anyway." Erik reached out to hug y/n but she pulled away and kicked him in his knee.
"You're going to regret ever coming here."
Erik raised an eyebrow, "Is that a threat coming from a three year old?"
"I'm five and it's not a threat Mr. Killmonger. It's a promise."
