10 Braided Hairstyles for Summer
Perfect for Medium and Long Hair
Hairstyle #1: Peek-a-boo Braid
____________________________
1. Start by choosing which side you want your braid on, and divide out a section of hair going down the front of your ear.
2. Then, grab a section right behind your ear and create a regular braid.
3. Grab tiny sections of hair from the front and loop them through your braid. You should get a cascading effect as you go down.
Hairstyle #2: Braided Rosette
___________________________
1. Grab a section from the front and braid it all the way down.
2. Pull the braid back and roll it towards the middle to get a rose shape. Secure this down with a few bobby pins. You can weave the pin from the edge of the bun and lightly wiggle it underneath so it's mainly hidden.
3. Grab a section from the other side and twist it back, and then pin it right underneath your rose.
Hairstyle #3: Braided Topknot
___________________________
1. Begin by sectioning out the very top of your hair, following the arch of your eyebrows. You're going to be braiding this section, so feel free to pin the sides of your hair back so they don't get in the way.
2. Grab the front top section, divide it into three, and start a French braid, going towards the back of your head. To do a French braid, incorporate hair to your side sections before putting them over the middle. If your bangs are short, make sure you braid a little more tightly so your hair stays in place.
3. Once you reach the top of the back, tie your braid off.
4. If your hair is pretty long, you can twist it while holding the end to shorten the length and then wrap it around to form a bun.
5. Pin your hair down.
Hairstyle #4: Princess Braid
________________________
1. Divide 2 sections of hair in the front, following down your ears. Join them in the back by twisting them away from your face.
2. Divide your half ponytail into 3 sections and create a regular braid until you're a little past your shoulder.
3. Grab a small section right behind each of your ear and tuck it into your crown to create more of a twisted effect.
Hairstyle #5: Ponytail
___________________
1. Start by dividing out 2 sections in the front and braid them until you're near the end.
2. Pull the rest of your hair into a high ponytail and pull your braids into it, making sure that they show very well on the side.
3. Secure your hair.
Hairstyle #6: Elegant Fishtail Braid
________________________________
1. Grab 2 sections in the front and cross them in the back.
2. Start a fishtail braid by crossing small sections of hair from one side to the other. If you take thinner sections, your braid will come out a lot more intricate. If you take thicker sections, your braid will come out more blocky.
3. Tie your hair off when you are at the nape of your neck.
4. Create a hole right above your hair tie and flip your hair into it to get a twisted effect at the bottom.
Hairstyle #7: Double Halo Braid
____________________________
1. Start by splitting your hair in half.
2. On one side, grab a section at the top and braid it (Choose any braid you'd like. A fishtail braid looks more flat and intricate). Once you've reached your shoulder, tie it off.
3. Grab another section right underneath that and braid it too. Once that's done, move on to the other side. You should have 4 braids in the end.
4. Join them in the back. The trick to making the halos stand out is to make sure you have some spaces between the top braids and the bottom braids.
5. You can remove the previous thin elastics.
Hairstyle #8: Braided Pigtails with a Twist
____________________________________
1. Begin by dividing your hair in half from the back.
2. With one side, grab a small section in the front and twist it back, wrapping it around the rest of your hair on that side. This will help to frame your face better.
3. Divide your hair into 4 sections so you can do a 4-strand braid. To do a 4-strand braid, place the outer section under the next, then over, then under.
4. Continue your braid and tie it off when you've reached near the bottom.
5. Repeat this on the other side. You can gently pull on the sides of the braids to make them thicker. You can also rough up the top to loosen the short layers.
Hairstyle #9: Pull-Through Side Braid
__________________________________
1. Choose one side and divide out a section, going straight down to your ear.
2. Then, divide out another section right next to that. Secure the back section with a thin elastic.
3. With the first section, you're going to split it into 2 and wrap it around your second section. Add some hair to it and tie it off with a thin elastic.
4. Repeat the same steps, so split the front section into 2 and wrap it around the back section. Add some hair to it and tie it off.
5. Repeat these same steps until you've reached the other side.
6. To complete this hairstyle, you can twist back any leftover hair you have from the front and weave it into the ponytail.
7. You can leave the hairstyle as is if you like the side ponytail look, or you can divide your hair into 3 sections and finish it off with a braid.
8. You can loosen the pull through braid from the back to make it more fluffy.
Hairstyle #10: Thick Braided Crown
________________________________
1. Start by grabbing a section on top and divide it into 3. Do a dutch braid, so make sure you place the outer sections underneath the middle.
2. As you work along your forehead, add hair to the outer sections before placing them underneath the middle section.
3. When you get to your ears, stop adding hair and braid normally for a bit.
4. Pin this to the middle of the back.
5. Repeat the same braid to the other side.
6. Pull this braid across the other one and pin it right underneath.
7. Loosen up your braid to make it more volumized and pull down some front hair to frame your face.
