After walking down the aisle, I turn to look in the crowd. I searched for someone's eyes in particular. I saw his entire family, but there was an empty seat where he was supposed to be sitting.
I turned and looked at Lance's smiling face, but my hand was shaking. Aidan wasn't there. He didn't come.
I looked back at his seat, and I saw a shadow-like figure. I looked more closely at it, and I realized it was Aidan. He had turned into a shadow.
I looked around the room, and I realized that everyone had turned into a shadow. They were all flying toward me, and I walked backwards until I hit a wall. I was trapped until they shoved me to the ground. They were all flying above me.
I shot up from my bed with a scream.
Naida quickly sat up from her bed as well, "Nixie, what's wrong?"
I was shaking, and I felt extremely hot. I grabbed my water glass from the nightstand, and I instantly felt better as the liquid soothed my throat.
"It was just a nightmare. I'm fine," I choked out.
We both turned when there was a knock on the door. Naida stood up, and she opened the door slightly.
"Who are you?" She asked confused.
"Princess Naida, I'm just a royal guard for the Earth Domain. I heard a scream, and I just wanted to make sure that you both are alright," I heard a familiar voice explain. I could tell that it was Jason. I stood up slowly behind Naida.
"I'm sorry to have concerned you, but we are both fine. Thank you," she told him as she started to close the door.
"Wait, Jason, will you escort me outside? I need some fresh air," I asked him.
Naida opened the door all of the way, and she turned and looked at me.
"You know this guard?" She asked me confused.
"Yes, he's actually very nice, and his name is Jason," I told her grabbing a light coat to wear over my nightgown.
I took a hair tie from the counter, and I tied my hair up into a messy ponytail before walking into the hallway.
"Alright fine, but be back here soon, and be careful. I don't want you to get hurt the morning of your wedding," she told me quietly before closing the door of our room.
Jason and I walked in silence while we were inside the castle, but as soon as we were outside, he began to speak, "Did you have another nightmare?"
I looked at the ground, "Yeah, I'm alright though. It wasn't the worst one I've had recently."
He nodded before letting a silence build between us again. We walked to the bridge, and I leaned against the side.
"I feel like you're always there for me when I'm in any kind of danger. I really appreciate that, Jason," I told him honestly with a small smile.
He smiled back at me with a slight red tint on his cheeks, "I'm a royal guard. It's my job to protect you."
"I know, but I just feel like I can trust you. I... I have a question for you," I told him honestly.
He nodded, but he looked slightly confused.
"When I marry Lance today, I'm going to be able to appoint a royal guard to be my personal guard, and if you were interested, I was going to appoint you," I told him honestly.
He looked shocked at first, but then his lips curled up into a large smile.
"I would be honored, Princess Nixie," he told me as he took my hand in his and lightly kissed the back of my it.
