It had been six months since Brooke's attack, Aidan's proposal, and Naida and Niall's wedding.
They were happy as far as I knew. They'd taken the throne and became Queen and King of Air.
Naida explained to me that it was a lot more difficult to be Queen than she ever thought it would be, but Niall was helping her in every way possible.
We had integrated the Shadow people that were under Brooke's rule into the Air domain. There were not that many left after everything they had been through, and we knew that the Air domain would be the safest place for them. There was not an abundance of water or fire, and the government in that domain was more stable than the Earth domain.
When Queen Darnell found out about Lance's single monarchy plan, she announced that she was leaving the throne to Flora and whoever she married. Therefore, it was rather obvious that Flora and Neil would eventually become the Queen and King of the Earth Domain.
However, Neil had still not proposed to Flora, and we were all waiting on him to finally gain the courage to do so. I had assumed that he would ask her around our wedding, but he never did. I had guessed he was just waiting for the right time.
Yesterday, I married the Prince of my dreams, Aidan Incendio. I couldn't possibly be more happy and content.
I was officially moving to the Fire Domain today, and I had to admit that I was nervous about the transition. I'd gone through all of the needed transition medications to allow my body to be able to maintain the temperatures of the Fire Domain, but I was terrified that something was going to go wrong. I knew that Water guards had done it before numerous times, especially before Brooke's disappearance.
I wouldn't lose my powers, but they'd be weaker than they've always been. I'd also never be able to touch the lava that they seem to enjoy, but I would be too terrified to try it even if I could. They were both sacrifices that I was absolutely willing to make to be with Aidan.
I grabbed my last bag from my room in the Water Domain castle. It was my Shakespeare books. I stood in the doorway looking into the empty room, and I smiled.
It was the ending of what I was used to, but it was a beginning of an amazing life that I couldn't wait for.
I closed the door behind me, and I saw Dylan standing there in the hallway.
He looked at me with a sad expression, "Do you have to go?"
I wrapped him in a tight hug, "Yes, I do. I'm married now, Dylan."
He wrapped his arms around me too, "I'm going to miss you so much."
"I'm going to miss you too," I told him softly.
"I don't know... I can't do this without you, Nixie. I don't know how to rule a domain. I'm clueless. You should have been given the throne. I spent the entire first fourteen years of my life not listening to our parents and doing the opposite of what they say," he told me worriedly.
He was panicking, and I looked him in the eyes, "Dylan, you're going to be an amazing ruler. You have a kind heart, and you're smart. You'll be ten times a better King than our father ever was. If you feel like you need help making a decision, you can have a council of advisors and you'll have a Queen by your side. You can ask for my help too. I'll always be willing to help in anyway possible. I'll always be a Princess of Water at heart."
"You're right. I just don't want you to go. It's going to be lonely here without you and Naida. Don't get me wrong, I love Aunt Morgan, but she's not mom, and she's definitely not you," he told me softly.
