-MADMAX part II-
"Girls! What'd I say about eggos and chocolate?" Pine heard Hopper call from the kitchen.
She ignored him and continued laying on her soft bed, staring at her Star Wars poster and listening to Time After Time on their Walkman. El thought she was asleep, and Pine intended to keep it that way. El was looking through some of Pine's drawings and reading bits of her unfinished stories. Pine was wide awake but, was too tiered to have motivation to get up.
"El, Pine." Hopper called, nearing the door.
Pine moaned, turning off the music, and rolled over. El put the papers on top of the bookshelf. Both girls got up and made their way to the door. El was the first to emerge into the kitchen, Pine on her heels.
"You can't just eat sweets all the time. You need real food. Plus, chocolate gives you ache. It's a wonder you haven't gotten any." Hopper said, the last part directed towards Pine.
They all sat down and ate dinner. A small and short conversation was held but, nothing worth describing. That's how things went in the Hopper household most of the time. There were the few times one of them got in trouble or Pine or El's powers went haywire. Hopper had been lucky enough to only have gotten a double blast of their powers three times and none were too bad.

Pine and El Snuggled close together in the full sized bed. El was already fast asleep and Pine knew this. So, she rolled away from her and stared at the Star Wars poster. She could probably draw the poster perfectly without looking at it. She looked at it quite often, it was something she did when she was bored. Her gaze slowly shifted from it and her eyes began to close. Soon the darkness swallowed her and she was sent into a dream world.

Pine walked through the void, darkness swarming around her. In the distance she saw a figure. Hesitantly, she started towards it. She trotted forwards, her feet splashing the shallow water. Soon she was close enough to decipher who it was. Like many of her dreams, the same brunette boy stood before her. She stayed silent as she approached him, his back to her. Standing next to him, she realized he'd grown. Last year he'd been a centimeter taller than her, now he stood almost two inches above her. He must've been 5'4 and her 5'2 1/2. Anyways, that was not important right now. She walked up to an angle she could see his face and suddenly, she was no longer in the void. Facing darkness, Will was gone.
"Pine?"
The girl whipped around at a slight touch on her shoulder. Brown eyes met her blue ones. A worried yet relieved smile sat as callers expression.
"Will?" She replied
The two embraced the other in a long yet not everlasting hug. All too soon, it ended.
"Pine! Where have you been?"
"I can't tell you."
"Are you really here?"
"I'd be surprised if I was."
"Was that really you at school today?"
"YOU ACTUALLY SAW ME?!"
"Of course."
"I've tried to reach you for 326 days!"
"How did you?"
"I... I can't tell you. I shouldn't even be here. It's probably another dream. You probably aren't even here."
"I am."
"No. You're not."
Will looked at the girl with sympathetic eyes. He, himself doubted this was actually real. Still, he wanted to believe it. He wanted it with all his heart. So, he forced himself to believe it.
"Where are we?" Pine asked, finally taking in her surroundings.
Will looked up, they were at his house. They stood on the front porch steps. The sky was bitter red and the air was freezing. Timidly standing there, the now teens stared at the storm of ruby. Suddenly a large shadow, larger than life, crept into the sky, looming over them. Pine was frozen in terror, Will bundled in fear. Then, the most frightening of all things happened. The scene diapered, swirling in fog.
"WILL!"
No response.
"WILL!" Pine screamed
Suddenly she was in another reality. It was not one from her current time. She felt it. Looking around she spotted one figure in the distance. She escalated towards it, soon seeing none other than her sister/best friend, Eleven.
"Help!" El moaned in pain.
Blood was seeping through her shirt at her stomach.
Pine knelt down to her.
"EL!"
El's eyes were closing.
"NO!" Pine screamed, tears pouring down her frail face."NOOOOOOO!"
She took her sister's hand as she faded. Her pale hands were covered in blood, as well as her shirt, still fresh, but not hers.
BANG!
A gunshot rang out, loud and clear, followed by another scream. Only, this time it seemed to not only rattle Pine's house but, her heart as well. It all seemed to go in slow motion for Pine as she watched her father fall to the ground. She swore she saw him look over to her, at her, and lookstraight into her eyes before...
Dead.
Pine screamed even louder. El's eyes closed for the last time. Eleven couldn't be dead. She 'd been with Pine through almost everything. SHE COULDN'T BE DEAD! Pine was too shocked to cry. Feeling weak in the knees, she fell, her hands landed in a pool of blood. Then, she felt sick, like she might vomit. So, she did. She threw up until nothing but bitter emotions were left. How she wished she could have thrown those uptoo. She screamed in agony. She screamed and she cried. Sobbing and wailing she curled up next to her sister. They may not be blood sisters but, none of that mattered now. The only thing that mattered now was that family stuck together. But now Pine's family was gone. All of it. All she had was Hopper and he locked her in a cabin all the time. So she cried.
***
"PINE!" Someone screamed in her ear.
Her eyes shot open. Eleven's face inches away from hers, worried and panicked. Swimming in a pool of sweat and tears, Pine whimpered. She sat up and pulled Eleven into a hug. She cried and sobbed and bawled and whimpered. El hadn't a clue what had happened but, she assumed it was different from Pine's normal night terrors. This was an imagined one, this one wasn't real. Hopper stood in the doorway, all three of them waiting hopelessly for the everglow.
