chapter two: tour guide

The inside of the aircraft was ominous, mostly dark but enough lights dimmed to where you can see perfectly fine. Most of the passengers were asleep or distracted at the screen they had in front of them, the movie selection quite interesting.

Soft dings were heard, and those who were awake quickly shook awake their companions. Meanwhile, as the group of friends -once known as rip doug, jack's bro on their close groupchat- had a tougher experience.

"Dear God, why is it so bright here?" Kaylee mumbled. The girl with shoulder lengthed hair and of pale features blinked as she tried to focus her vision at the quiet shuffles of everyone else. The young woman then turned to Karen, who was absorbed in a movie she had previously downloaded before boarding the plane.

"My battery is going to die, do you have a portable charger?" Karen asked, looking over at the recently awaken Kaylee.

"What time is it?" She asked, frowning at her.

"You want Canadian time, American time, or wherever the heck we may be at?" The younger woman asked, gripping her cell phone in security.

"When are we going to land?" A new voice whispered, both girls looking to their right.

"Well, how long have we been in the air?" Kaylee questioned, arching an eyebrow.

Jackie shrugged, turning in her seat to peek between Karen and her seat. "Psst, Jess."

The honey brown haired girl was peacefully asleep, her earbuds tucked into her ears. Her head was leaning against next to the window, but her neck safely secure due to a neck pillow. As the girl called for the other, the two seats next to Jessica's were occupied by an older couple -whom might I add were quite irritated by Jackie's necessity to always keep talking- glanced at Jackie's peeping hole. Quickly, turning the other way, she looked at the two bros.

Colin seemed to be having a nice, light nap -not quite relatable, it's usually a rare occurance- whilst Max was enjoying having a small argument with the inanimate object that his laptop is. He had a small fit of scowls and unaudible curses -probably in Dutch- whilst he had his earbuds in. Both bros were quite different, but yet they were similar personality wise. Kind, compassionate, but yet they both shared their series of jokes that usually nobody else could quite comprehend over the amount of 'bro' and 'yeah, man' they say daily.

"Hey, Max," the girl said in a whisper. When she recieved no response, she tried once again; failing once again. Jackie scowled, looking at what she had available. She reached for a spare piece of crouton from her free salad meal from earlier and took aim.

"Jackie, I don't think that's a good idea-" Kaylee warned.

"Relax, you want to know how specific we've been here? I'm sure Maxwell Coffeehouse can tell us." She whispered in return. As she took aim and forcefully threw the crouton in the air, it crashed against Max's shoulder, bouncing off onto Colin. He perked up, frowning in question.

"What?" The sandy brown haired boy asked, a bit of puzzlement and annoyance shining in his eyes.

Not surprising.

Karen tapped her wrist twice, shrugging dramatically and nodded in question.

"How long have we been here?" Kaylee joined in, peeking her head so he could see.

Max scowled slightly as he thought. "My playlist replayed at least three times."

"Classical music or regular?"

"Classical."

The three girls looked at each other, their minds racing at the possible time.

"So maybe about nine hours? Ten?" Karen estimated. "Classical music in general is about six minutes long a piece and he has a pretty long playlist of six hours."

"I don't know how someone can listen to classical music for that long," Kaylee added.

"So that means we have a few hours left on this crowded plane?" Jackie asked, slumping in her seat.

"Unfortunately." Karen inputted. It seemed that she had grown into the world of mathematics, now making it easier for the group to rely on her for estimations or help on simple rounding.

"Fun," Kaylee mumbled.

"Can we stop by the gift shop?"

"No!" Jessica exclaimed, a bit too quick. "We don't need to spend another hour in an airport or anything involving one."

"Can we just go to the hotel?" Max asked, dragging his luggage as if it were rags.

"Can we get something to eat is the real question here." Karen retorted.

The group of seven made their way to the exit, doing their best to use their knowledge of italian to haul a taxi cab. Taking about three taxis, they all lazingly their way into the prestigous town of Capri. Once upon arriving to their hotel, they did their best to check in, but as soon as they arrived to their doors and arranged roommates, they all seemed to pass out due to how tiresome they were.

Though it was plain day, the crew slept through the rest of the sunlight hours and night, waking up excessive knocks at their doors. The trio that consisted of Charlee, Kate, and Brittany all made their rounds of awaken the group.

"It's too early," Kaylee complained, trying to curl up in her own hotel bed.

"Well, welcome to different time zones, we got used to it so now you all have to," Kate informed. She plopped down on the opposing bed that Jessica had used.

"We already slept for way to long, we need to get a jump start on our day," Jessica added from the small restroom. She entered the room with blotches of makeup; today was the day she seemed to try to look nice.

"Can we try some pizza? Pasta?" Jackie questioned, rushing into the room.

"Tell her no, we need to go visit some historical places," Max barged in a split second after. In his hand was a pencil, maybe from sketching so early in the morning. "I need something new to draw and paint, and eating foods you can get a regular deli store isn't on my list."

"You're just angry because of the crouton."

"No, I'm not."

"Well," Colin interrupted, "can't we just do both? We can have a time limit."

Everyone's attention fell onto Max's second half, his bro, his best pal.

"He has a point," Kaylee said, rolling to her side. She then sat up, trying to integrate into the conversation.

"Then it's settled," Colin said. "Let's get ready, we're leaving in ten minutes."

"Wait, I thought I was the tour guide," Max spoke.

Colin sighed, shaking his head. He left the room, leaving Max with a questioning look.

"I'm like half italian once I pizza, but am I the tour guide? No."

"What?"
