The door bell rang, the girls already left only leaving Valerie, her brother and her parents.
"Val! It's for you!" Mike shouted "Coming!" Valerie shouted as she grabbed her keys and purse and jogged down stairs in a black off the shoulder top, a purple skirt and black high heels. Her curly brown hair swept over her shoulders.
Walking into her living room she spotted Jason, sitting on the couch. Her heart started pounding as she took a step closer her heels clicking against the floor.
Noticing her, Jason stood up as Mike walked out of the room leaving the two alone.
"Jason," Valerie acknowledged him he was breathing hard. "Can I talk to you? Outside?" Valerie nodded in agreement and the two headed outside, she felt selfish for thinking about him all this time, after their kiss they dated secretly then he cheated on her. After shutting the door behind her the headed to the swing.
"What do you need Jay?" Valerie asked. "Can I drive to you Spencer's I need to talk to you," "Uhh.. Okay?" Val said with a hint of confusion, the two walked to Jason's car and he turned on the engine. "I'm sorry." he finally said after minutes of silence between the duo. "For what?" "Cheating on you-" "-Jason." "No let me explain, I was high and drunk that whole summer, and you stuck by me. And I lost control at Ian's party, and I didn't mean to cheat-." "-But you did." Valerie cut him off reminding him.
"I did. And I regret it." "I love you Valerie, I always have and I always will." Valerie wasn't going to lose this. She gave so much to get over Jason, and she was not going to throw it all away. He pulled into spencer's drive way, "A relationship takes two committed people who love each other.... and I loved you and then you went and fucked it all up and because of that there is no us anymore Jason. All because you cheated on me! And I gave so much to get over you. It took me a long long time. And i'm finally here, finally happy. Not in the depressing stage I was before, and I would be lying if I said I didn't think about you everyday you were gone. I did, but it doesn't change anything. It takes two people to be in a relationship Jason just like it takes two to move on."
He just sat there stunned by Valerie's words, he loved her with all his heart. And he knew he fucked the best thing that ever happened to him, but she was clearly over him. Valerie on the hand, felt a small pain in her chest after she said those words, but she knew it was what was best for her.
With a gloss of tears covering her eyes she took off her seat belt and got out of the car shutting the door behind her. She walked into Spencer's house, the girls automatically looking at her she sent a sly smile at them and said, "Let's see this memorial." ~~ "You've done a great job. Really. Mom and Dad and I are really grateful." Jason said looking up at the girls, Valerie scratched the back of her neck awkwardly as Hanna walked in. "There she is!" Jason exclaimed. Hanna looked at her friends that back at Jason. "Jason, Hey. Sorry I'm late." She smiled hugging Jason.
"No problem. I was saying you've done some lovely work on the memorial. I might've done one or two things differently. We can adjust that along the way." He said, "Here's a copy of the program for the dedication." "Oh, I emailed you the program that we worked up." Spence said.
"Right. I saw the draft. This just fine-tunes it." Spencer looked at Valerie who exchanged the look "Let's see. If Shelly Leonard's gonna play something I don't think we can give her more than three minutes. I remember she's somewhat of a showboat with that cello. Then, uh... Oh. Is this the picture for the program?" He asked picking up a picture of Ali in the process.
"Yes. It's everybody's favorite." Emily answered.
"It's the one I would have picked. I thought I was gonna be able to get my whole family out here but, you know, at the last minute, my mom, um" he chuckles lightly, "it's crazy talking about this, isn't it? When I think about her, I think about you. The six of you in her bedroom, laughing, keeping secrets. I want each of you to speak. I'd rather hear from you than Miss Slocomb from the PTA."
"The PTA was a lot of help." Valerie said, Jason looked at her than at Spencer automatically "What about the rain?" He asked her
"The rain?" Spencer asked. "Forty percent chance before the weekend." "They said that we can use the school's multipurpose room... ...if we have to move the ceremony inside." "Great."
"People think this dedication is about closure. There won't be closure until they find out who did this to Alison. The cops in this town have been jerking my family around for more than a year. I'm here to get some action, and this memorial is gonna help me get it. Oh, and I'm adding one speaker to the program." He said adding a name to the list
"Jenna Marshall?" Emily read. "You want Jenna to speak at the dedication?" Hanna asked. "That's right." "Why?" Valerie asked confused,
"She asked me if she could." "Jenna asked to speak?" Emily added "Is there a problem?" "It just didn't occur to us that Alison and Jenna were that close." Spencer explained
"I didn't know either. Jenna called and said my sister was a lot of help to her after her accident. Well, concentrate on what you're gonna say. Leave the rest of it to me. Now I'm going to have a talk with Detective Wilden and find out why they haven't located Toby yet." he said walking towards the door, Spencer followed him.
"Did we just get fired?" Hanna asked. "Shh! Keep it down." Aria told her, "Why is he talking to Jenna?" Emily asked us. "I don't know." Valerie said. "This is turning into a nightmare." "What else did he say?" Emily asked Spencer as she walked back in.
"Nothing. Just kept smiling like he was running for office." "Spence, why does Jenna wanna speak at the dedication?" Aria asked. "And why does Jason want her there? He clearly knows they were not friends." Hanna added. "We can't let Jenna speak" Emily said. "How are we gonna stop her without looking like bitches?" Valerie pointed out.
"How're we gonna stop her at all? In case you didn't notice we just got patted on the head and sent off to play." Spence said "You need to stay on top of him, find out what's going on." Hanna told spence. "Why me?" Spencer asked. "Because you're the big organizer."
"You've got the laptop of all knowledge, and he's gonna need some of that." "Jenna could get up there, she could tell about the fire and Toby." "She could tell about everything."
