Valerie let out a sigh as she drank her iced water her father had placed out for breakfast. "Boyfriend problems?" her father asked awkwardly causing her to choke on her water, Mike smirked form behind the newspaper he was looking at enjoying the scene already as it unfolded in front of him. "what- no- I-" "morning." Aria announced walking into the room. Valerie let out a sigh of relief as she saw Mike smirking at her she kicked him under the table. "Ah, good morning." her father responded as he walked over to them placing down the food.
"Okay go ahead, you can say it out loud, 'dad has gotten the hang of this single parent thing." "it looks good." Aria assured him. The duo exchanged looks before nodding, "yeah." Valerie and Mike chorused together as Aria grabbed her orange juice and her father went back into the kitchen. "Did you see mom last night?" Aria asked.
"um, yes I did." her father nodded. "how'd it go?" Aria questioned.
Byron took his seat as he began to answer, "Well what I thought was going to be a date with your mom, turned into your mom telling me that she's dating, other people." "What?" Mike stares at him waiting for an answer, he looked over at Valerie who was awkwardly cutting into her food. "And you're okay with that?" Mike pushed as he sat up folding the newspaper in the process.
"it's not really my place to tell her that she can't." "that's just so you, dad." Mike scoffed. "you lie and cheat, but you draw the line at hypocrisy you're such a role model." Mike stood up placing the paper down as he stared at his dad. "mike." aria warned Mike ignores her and grabs her stuff and leaves. "should I-?" Valerie trailed off "go." her dad told her, Valerie nodded grabbing her stuff, and keys and hugging her dad goodbye before running after her brother. ~~ Mike stood by her car waiting for the brunette to emerge from the house. Valerie unlocked the car and climbed in with Mike. "you had no right to do that." Valerie told him locking the car and putting her seat belt on. "yeah? well he deserved it after what he put this family through." "listen, dad made a mistake and Aria-" "knew about it. She knew about it and didn't tell anyone." "she didn't know what to do mike!" Valerie's voice raised.
"she was scared enough as it was that she would hurt this family-" "-haven't you realized that we are always under her shadow? it's always about Aria because Aria caused this." "Aria is not the problem here Mike! it's all of this, this is a family matter that we are going to get through if we just stick together and not cause more problems! Dad and mom might not get back together, we don't know, they are adults and they get to make their own decisions." "but we are their children we fit into this situation! it affects us too!"
Valerie sighed, "Mike listen. Dad's trying, he's trying to do what's right, he's trying to fix his mistake, he's learning. It takes time okay? just please respect that and if you don't, don't go rubbing it in his face alright?" Mike rolled his eyes looking out the window as Valerie pulled out of the driveway and drove to school. ~~ "Did you talk to him? Jason I mean." Spencer asked as the two of them walked through the hallways. "he keeps texting me, but I don't know what to say I already told him that I didn't want to start something unless he was in town. so it's up to him now." "what do the text say?" Spencer and Valerie walk by Toby who was at his locker a cop behind him. Toby's locker has the word killer painted in red on his door. Top opens his locker and takes out a couple of books before closing it, he walks past the girls. A boy standing in front of him. "murderer." the boy states stepping in front of him
"hey shut up will you?" Valerie shouted at him "you've already made that perfectly clear." she gestures to Toby's locker. Toby walks by the girls. "thank you." the cop tells Valerie shooting her a small look. "step aside, please." the cop tells the boys
"what was that about?" Emily asked Valerie in a low whisper. "I..I don't know." Valerie stumbled over her words watching Toby walk out of the building. ~~ Valerie went to Toby's house later that evening. Jenna sat on the porch. "Jenna." Valerie greeted causing her head to look up. "Valerie." Jenna grumbled. "What are you doing here?" "I'm here to see Toby." "he doesn't want anything to do with you." "I got this Jenna, thanks." Toby emerged from the house. Jenna went inside, as the two sat on the steps of the house but Valerie a distance a way.
"what are you doing here?" Toby asked confused. "I'm not sure." Valerie admitted. "Emily didn't turn you in you know, she was with me when she did." "I know." Toby stated. "But you didn't come here to tell me that. what did you come here to tell me?" "why did you see Allison the night she died?" "you wouldn't believe me so what's the point?"
