(Inspired by the song "fireflies" this chapter will be emotional and deals with the topic of depression, you have been warned)

The warm morning sun rose slowly spreading a beautiful glow. You took in the air that squeezed through the small opening in the window. It was cool and somewhat calming to your warm body under the covers. Your heavy eyes opened at the speed of a snail. Though there was something about this cool air that made your eyes close once more.
With your eyes shut you turned around to ignore the sun. You reached out to wrap your arms around Murdoc. Blindly they searched for warmth under the covers. They searched and searched with no luck in finding the bassist. You became quite frustrated, how could you not find him he must be close. This time your eyes opened quickly from the frustration that started to build up.
The white sheets had no man laying on top of them. Murdoc was gone maybe off brewing coffee or writing some lyrics. Lately Murdoc had been having a hard time emotionally. The problem with your boyfriend is he tends to bottle up his emotions, and he does it quite well.
"Murdoc?!" You call out desperately hoping he will answer back. The house is silent though and there seems to be no movement. You take a couple more seconds to take in the silence before calling out once more. "Murdoc?!" Nothing... again. Your heart started to beat faster and faster until the beats turned into pounding. Placing your feet onto the cold wood floor you ran around the house frantically.
You searched every room, every corner for your boyfriend. In the back of your mind you told yourself everything was fine. Though every other part of your body told you to freak out. Your brain twisted and turned trying to figure out where he could be. As you grabbed your car keys you found a small note that sat beneath your keys. You unfolded it and decided to read it.

     Luv,
I need time to think for myself... don't come to find me.
     ~ Murdoc

Your heart skipped a beat. There is no way that you wouldn't go looking for the love of your life. Your hands clutched the car keys as you went outside. Murdoc's red charger was nowhere in sight so he must have gone far... but where?
You inserted the key and turned it, the car roared to a start. The day started to disappear as you searched for hours. The only times you stopped, was when you grabbed a sandwich from your local deli to eat on the road. You pulled the car over to the side of the road as the sun started to set. Murdoc had been gone for hours now and you had checked all of his favorite places...
As you recalled the note he left you remembered something. In the corner of the note he had drawn a small firefly. Months ago you two had gone to the woods to catch fireflies. Your eyes widened and you slammed your foot onto the gas. The car screamed as you pulled up to the trail sight. It was cold and you were still in your pjs but that didn't matter at the time. You followed the trail until a certain point where you walked into the woods.
Even though there was no path you knew exactly where to take a turn. Soon you arrived a small creek where you caught fireflies not so long ago.
"Murdoc?" You didn't yell like before, even though you were having a hard time keeping in all your bad thoughts. Out of the corner of your eye you saw something move slowly. It wasn't huge like a bear... but not small like a rabbit or squirrel. You walked closer to it and noticed the flashing of many fireflies. Each flash reminded you of the beat of a human heart.
As you neared the lump that moved you quickly noticed it was Murdoc hunched over looking at his hands. He held a firefly that pulsed nicely as it looked up at him.
"Mudz.." you whispered quietly as to not try to frighten him. His head turned slowly and his eyes held yours. You allowed your legs to fall beneath yourself. His head rested against your chest as he cried. The fireflies seemed to surround you two more than ever in this dark time. All you could do was calm him down and hold him as tightly as you could. Every pulse of his heart helped to put your mind at ease from this insane day. Together you stayed there embracing each other until the sun rose once again...
