The place was pack by the time Jace got to the vegetable market. People everywhere picking out fruits and vegetables. He made his way to the back where he knew the freshest ones were at. This isn't his first time at these market sales. Once he reached the back he spots a familiar read head. She was wearing a dark pink top with short overalls, she had her hair in a loose bun and she was talking to a blond girl who Jace thought looked familiar. She was in front of a vender he knew so Jace walked towards them.
"Fancy seeing you here." Jace said, the girl turned around and looked confused for a moment but then her eyes clarified.
"You work at the restaurant right? Jace?"
"good memory." Jace smiled, she was cute, he noticed that in the restaurant the other day but he was kind of focused on the fact the he spilled trash on her. Her smile was sweet and friendly, unlike when most strangers smile at new people with guarded eyes. This girl seemed so open to the world that she didn't have an untrusting bone in her body.
"What are you doing here?" She asked.
"Caitlin, the head chef at the restaurant, wanted me to get fresh vegetables for the kitchen. How about you?"
"Same-, I mean I'm buying fresh vegetables too. But not for the restaurant for my home. My roommate is trying to cook a home cook meal for her boyfriends and we don't really have anything at home for this stuff and we don't cook a lot so we're kind of going by the flow and oh my god I'm talking your ear off and telling you my life story that you probably didn't need or want to hear."
Jace smiled at her babbling, "no it's okay. Well I'm a chef and I can tell you the easiest food to cook and make it seem fancy is spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread. Since you're here already might as well make a side salad."
"Clary I just scored a deal on tomatoes. 6 for 6 dollars how awesome is that." The blond girl came back, she noticed Jace and looked at Clary.
"Oh hi." She elbowed Clary,
"Right. Jace this is my roommate Emma, she's not the one cooking, and Emma this is Jace. He works at Idris."
"Are you the one who dumped food on her?" Wow she's blunt, but Jace just laughed and nodded.
"Guilty. Again I'm really sorry about that." He said.
"Wait you're a chef right?"
"Umm yes."
"That's great listen I know we just met and all but do you think you can do us a favor?"
"Depends..."
"We Love our roommate but she burns water when she boils it. We all do, at least we can make eggs, but she's, well, easily distracted when it comes to cooking."
"Emma, where are you going with this?" Clary said to her roommate.
"Could you maybe come over and help us with the meal? We can pay you."
"Emma! Jace is probably busy." Clary protested,
"Well I'm asking him. Are you busy Jace?"
"Depends when it is."
"Tomorrow night, around 6. We have to eat early because we have somewhere to be later on."
"Well turns out I'm free around that time too."
Clary pulled on Emma's arm, "Em can we talk for a minute." Before Emma could say a thing, Clary was already dragging her away. While they talked Jace went to the vender and handed him Caitlin's produce list. He turned to the girls who were looking at him, Emma gave him a smile and wave while Clary just blushed. Jace smiled to himself and turned back to the vender. He thanked him and gave him the money. He looked back and saw them walk towards him.
