After cake everyone, Lincoln's friends and their parents, left. Ella and her husband along with Lincoln were also staying over so the house was still pack with them, plus Imogen and Cecily, who Clary met once but hasn't seen in a few hours. Jace was in the family room upstairs with Will, Tessa, and Jem when Clary found them. They were all talking with each other and didn't see her yet. Tessa saw her first,
"Hey is everything okay?" She asked, Tessa was the type of person to worry if you don't answer her first call. Clary just nodded
"Yeah, everything is great," Clary decided she would tell Emma and Tessa together about her brother when they get back. But for now she didn't want to think about it. Since Jace was here for the weekend Alec has life free time to go over Jon's cast before their court date.
Clary sat next to Jace, turns out they weren't just talking they were looking through board games.
"Ella suggested we play, she's downstairs getting some snacks while Andy puts Lincoln to bed. Mom and Cecy might join us later." Will said as he put the rest of the games on the table. They had a lot of games.
"That's a lot of board games Will." Clary said as she looked through the pile.
"Yeah well my parents loved entertaining guest so board games were fun for everyone. Jace how about you pick?" Will asked Jace.
"Ooh big mistakes I'm great at board games. Especially...." Jace looked through the pile until he found the game he was looking for.
"Snakes and Ladders?" Tessa said,"
"Yep, my siblings hated when I picked the games because I would always pick the ones I know I'd win in. Snakes and Ladders is probably one of my favourite."
"Well prepare to lose," Ella said as she entered the room with a tray of snacks, Jem and Will helped her with the drinks.
"I've never lost a game too and I like to win." Ella sat on the floor in front of Clary and Jace.
"Well you've met your match." Jace said setting up the game. Clary heard Jem whisper to Tessa "now I can see the family resemblance."
Competitive Herondale's, Clary thought.
The rest of the night they played 4 games in totally for the last 2 games it was card games which Cecily joined them for. She said Imogen was turning in because she had to be up early tomorrow for her event. Cecily was less competitive than Jace, Will, and Ella, but she still liked to the win. Clary didn't understand how they ended up playing poker but right now she and Tessa were out, while the 4 Herondale's were still in. Thank god no one was betting money or else it'd be crazier.
Around 1 am, Ella made everyone stop playing the games and turn in. She showed Jace and Clary their rooms, which were next to each other in the third floor of the manor.
"That's the bathroom," she pointed to the door next to Jace's room.
"And spare towels should be in that closet," she pointed again but this time to the door across Clary's room, next to the stairs. Once Ella left, Jace looked at Clary,
"Are you tired?"
"Not yet."
Jace had a mischievous look in his eyes. "I think I saw a liquor cart in the family room downstairs. Wanna go to the Terrance and have a drink?"
"That's sounds great, but you know first hand I don't handle alcohol well."
"Right, we don't want a repeat of that night."
"Wanna just sit outside?" Clary suggested,
"Sure." said Jace, Clary followed him to the balcony and they sat on the couch, they leaned back and watched the stars in silent. Clary has been so used to the city that she forgot how nice the stars looked at night and how peaceful it was out here.
She wanted to look at Jace, but she kept her eyes on the stars.
"I've never seen the stars this bright." Jace said.
"You've never been out of the city before?"
"No I have, I guess I never really looked at them."
"I love watching the stars, when I was younger my brother and I would spend every night trying to count the stars. Let just say we fell asleep a lot outside."
Clary laughed at the memory. She would always fall asleep first and Jon, would always carry her to bed. She was always tiny for her age, so even though Jon wasn't much older, he could easily pick her up.
"Was that your brother on the phone?" Jace asked,
No, it was your brother. She wanted to say, because my brother is being represented by your brother in court.
"No, just a friend."
"Well if you know the stars so well, can you tell me what that constellation is?"
