Chapter 1

3rd person POV

The five paladins of Voltron went on a scouting mission on a planet with a similar make-up as Earth and Arus. Hunk and Pidge went one way, into a deep forest, while Keith and Shiro went to the mesa. Lance was left to scout along the beaches and rivers because that's where early settlements tend to form. 

Lance took off in the Blue lion, searching the beaches. Shiro and Keith went together in their respective lions. The mesas were vast and empty, many critters but devoid of intelligent life. Lance so far had no luck finding anyone.

Hunk POV

As Pidge and I were flying over the forest, Pidge went lower to the ground in order to scan the forest floor for life. I was looking over towards the mesa, I could see the Black and Red lions in the distance, suddenly I saw a movement out of the corner of my eye. When I turned around, I saw the green line wrapped in vines and being pulled down through the trees.

"Pidge!" I yelped as he pulled on the controls and dove into the forest below. I could see thick vines crossing from tree to tree, making it difficult to see past the canopy. Suddenly my lion jerked to a stop, suspended in the trees. I tried to move the controls but they wouldn't budge. Great. Okay, I'm stuck in my lion, stuck in vines, suspended over the floor 1,000ft in the air. Pidge has disappeared, AND I CAN'T DO QUIZNAK. The vines started to constrict my lion, damaging the energy core. This shut down the comms. I jumped out of my lion, grabbing onto one of the vines. I climbed down as low as I could using the vines then jumped off, using my jetpack to slow the fall.

"Pidge! Pidge, where did you go!" I call as I run through the forest.

Pidge POV

My scanner was picking up signs of huge plants, I had just found the biggest plant that I have ever seen when I was pulled into the ground. The force of hitting the earth loosened a few plates of my armour. I remember seeing vines wrapped over my window before I passed out.

I woke up a few minutes later and I got up, wincing at my broken leg, and walked into the forest. I looked at the state of Green, she was beaten and tied up by the vines. There is no way I'm going to be able to untangle her with my wounds. I walked through the forest, finding a clearing and lay down in it, I scan the surrounding area for plants that could help my wounds. I find something to help stop infection and place it on my leg, clenching my teeth at the pain.

"Hello? Is anyone there?" I ask into the comms. I'm met with static. Quiznack, the fall must have messed with my comms, I'm on my own out here. I hear a rustling in the grass, along with a low growl. I pull out my bayard and aim it at the noise. The growl gets louder as the creature steps closer. I can see its outline in the shadows. It is twice my size (A/N not hard to do lol, she a small bean) and had claws and I'm assuming sharp teeth. An apex predator. I heard another noise and looked over to my right and see another one crawling towards me, teeth bared. They inch closer, soon they are just 15ft away, I know they are going to pounce.

(A/N beast1 and beast2 is how we will refer to them)

The four-legged beasts drew closer, and I did my best to look strong despite my leg. Intimidation is my best chance of getting out alive. It didn't work. The first one pounced and I shot it in the face with my bayard, knocking it to the side. The other glared at me before running in a zig-zag pattern, trying to dodge my shots. Beast1 got back on its feet and started circling me, sizing me up and trying to find my weak point. I see its face light up when it notices me limping. It barks to its friend and they circle me, opposite each other, jumping in and out, swiping and slashing at me with their claws.

I'm trapped, quiznack.
