The REDS of war

Volume Two Chapter Six

A quiet night, while RWBY and REDS fought for their lives, Jaune lays asleep in his room, his scroll ringing. Ruby attempting to call. Sun and Neptune who's scrolls also ringing, Sun's call is from Blake, Neptune's... then another scroll ringing, Ozpin's office, Ozpin, and Cassidy stand together looking out into the distance discussing something, their scrolls ringing unanswered.

Team RWBY, as well as REDS stand surrounded on all sides by dozens of Grimm, maybe even hundreds.

Erin scoffs. "Just great... Duke's out cold and we're surrounded by dozens of Grimm any ideas, captain?

Rei rolls back avoiding the stinger of a deathstalker, with the firing of a single arrow he uses his glyphs to force the stinger of it to stab back into its head. "One... you may not like it."

"If it'll help us survive we gotta take it." Ruby says readying her scythe

"Fall back to the nearby roofs, hold out until backup arrives. Pair up into two and guard each other Ruby with Weiss, Yang, and Blake, Sky with Erin, and Dusk, you and I will get Duke out of harms way we'll be support until help arrives.

Everyone nods with his plan, using this opportunity they save as many civilians as they can, They rush around helping anyone still alive, Rei and Dusk hold the line by themselves, as Erin and Sky fall back Erin using a sniper to take out targets and allow team RWBY to save civilians, Sky uses her weapons to take out massive groups.

Just then the King Taijitu screeches causing the other Grimm surrounding the group to charge. Erin immediately unloads rounds upon rounds of fire dust infused bullets into them alongside with the ring of fire surrounding the duo courtesy of Sky making it impossible for anything to get near them. Dusk was using his smoke to stab outward from inside the Grimm killing it instantly without warning Rei remained using his bow leaping into the air using glyphs, while he's airborne he grabs dust tipped arrowsad fires them into several major groups of Grimm keeping them away from Dusk by flinging them away towards Erin and Sky's position burning the Grimm alive.

Just then a wild Nora arrives and kills the King Taijitu, slamming her hammer on its head while yelling. "Nora Smash!"

Rei glances up to a bulkhead above the group as Cassidy, and a woman leap off, lexpertly dispatching of large hordes of Grimm.

"Let's move children!" Cassidy shouts as he signals for the students to fall back.

"Right." Pyrrha agrees helping everyone evacuate.

Cassidy then jumps towards Ruby and Weiss' location slicing any Grimm that gets close to him with his gauntlets clearing twenty Grimm in only a couple of blasts before landing behind Ruby and defending her as Cassidy and Ruby despite this being only their second meeting work in near perfect synchronicity Cassidy himself is actually somewhat amazed. Moments later a bullhead flies over the city opening revealing Team GREY in ragged clothed.

"You've got to be kidding." Canary mutters.

He jumps down his weapon in gun form as he rolls from the landing under a Beowulf's leg before he kicks the beowulf in the back when it's impaled through the head by a spear before being flung away by Cindy when another three are cut down by Glossy and two clones. Their joined by Rai who snaps her fingers creating construct swords that cut through two Ursai surrounding on either side of her.

"Alright, kids we're starting to move back!" Cassidy calls out using his semblance to launch a massive blast of fire.

Dusk and Rei fell back immediately carrying Duke with them, the others slowly made their way back.

"Daniel, go find other students and survivors evacuate them." Cassidy speaks to the teen, however a large blast only a short ways away leads Dusk to start running in its direction.

"I'm going to go find Roman! I don't want him getting away!"

"Hey, wait!"

Dusk runs off hiding in his own smoke to lose Cassidy, his mind clear. 'I'm completing my goal I'll be the one to put Roman in jail.'

Just then a pair of Sun and Neptune appear shouting while holding Junior Deputy Badges.

"Nobody move, Junior detectives!" Sun shouts.

Neptune grins. "We have badges, so you know it's official."

"Y'know instead of showing off you could, oh I don't know, help us fight!" Erin shouts.

Atlas ships fly overhead and start shooting the Grimm and dropping Atlas robots on the battlefield. Another trio shows up and the leader nods to the other two the boy goes and starts kicking the crap out of the Grimm and the girl takes out a chain and sickle and starts to shoot at the Grimm that approach her. Soon after a paladin shoots out of the ground and out of the paladin comes the dog that Ruby loved so much. The dog head-buts a Beowulf killing it in one hit.

"You've got to be kidding me right now." Cassidy says bemused.

Just then team CFVY and Port arrive to join the fray Yatsuhashi with his long sword completely destroys the pack around him then Fox does a move Cassidy swears he's seen in a video game followed by Velvet who tries to help him out but stays back due to Coco's order who completely destroys a group of Grimm with her purse before it turns into a Gatling gun.

"These crazy kids, you'd've loved them." Cassidy mutters watching the unique weapons.

He's quickly brought out of his thoughts by a King Taijitu trying to attack him only for an explosion to go off on its face he knocking Cassidy back. He flips landing on his feet he looks around briefly spotting Ambrose leaping away from building to building but decides against chasing her.

Sky and Erin were doing well on their own they looked around and see Rei working alongside CFVY to help evacuations, however Dusk was missing. Erin quickly scanning the area stopped suddenly terrified at the sight of a very pissed, Mrs. Goodwitch. After Mrs. Goodwitch cleaned up the area everyone watched Dusk carry a beaten and bloodied Roman Torchwick. Rei grinned, walking up to his partner, as he along with Erin and Sky joined back up Rei scanning the area, his eye giving a damage report and a casualty report. As Rei scanned Dusk handed Roman to Ironwood before he was handed a briefcase, Erin asked him what was in it Dusk smiled turning to his friend.

"My old reason for being here."

All of the kids still there looked at each other with nods of approval and fist bumps all around.

Dusk sighs stretching with the briefcase. "After today I need a nap."

"I haven't slept since switched off for night watch." Erin mutters.

"I'm just glad that we finally put him in jail lord knows how much of a pain he was." Sky says walking up behind them.

"So, what do you four say to burgers?" Rai said walking up behind the team.

"Only if it's fish." Erin said.

Cindy hands another lollipop to Sky who happily accepts.

Rei, Erin, Dusk, Sky, Glossy, Rai, Cindy, and Canary sit in a burger restraint slightly destroyed the eight all sit in silence. Rei, Erin, Glossy, Rai, and Canary all eat, meanwhile Sky has her face in her palm while Cindy cuddles up to Canary eating a lollipop.
