Oh fuck, oh fuck. Where could it possibly be" I panicked. Ran to the decorative treasure box that sat in my living room, I checked to see if my missing item was hiding in there and to no surprise it was not there.
I had lost my engagement ring and I couldn't find it ANYWHERE. It was a very expensive, 14kt diamond encrusted ring that my husband, Keith, worked so hard to be able to afford. I hate myself for being so irresponsible and losing it. To make matters worse, this I wasn't the first time I've lost my engagement ring. The first time I lost it, Keith was so upset and didn't talk to me for two whole days, but then ended up buying this more expensive one as a surprise.
I don't even think I have the balls to break the news to him that its lost, again. I'm not even gonna expect to get surprised with a new one.
I continued looking under pillows, in closet, in drains, I even retraced my steps to see if I misplaced it somewhere. But once again, no luck. "Mommy what are you looking for?" My 4-year-old daughter, Kylie walked to me rubbing her eyes, she'd just woken up from her afternoon nap.
"Um nothing, baby go lay back down" i continued searching. She followed me around "mommy is it the shiny ring again?" She asked innocently.
"Uhh yes honey, do me a favor and don't tell daddy okay." I rub the top of her head and grabbed a piece of candy from on top of the cabinet. As if on cue, Keith walks through our front door. He'd just came home from work and had bags of groceries in his hand with his tie loose and open buttons on top of his white button up.
"Daddy!" Our 4-year old daughter, Kylie, exclaimed, running into Keith's arms.
"Wassup Kyle" he kissed her forehead then turned to me to peck my lips "Hey baby" he said.
"Hmm, hi honey" I took some of the groceries out of his hand and sat them on counter.
"How was your day?" I asked as I began putting the newly bought food away.
"Uh it was good but I'm hella tired" he began undoing his shirt. "They put me in charge of making the budget summary for this fiscal year, I don't know why though that's not my damn job" I giggled a bit at the fact that he was venting to me. "Then on top of that, that lazy ass co-worker that just started working there don't know how to work shit! She must have no type of experience, the bitch gone ask me how to do and organize a fucking PowerPoint! Are you serious?!" Keith exclaimed, he was now stripped to a black wife beater, house slippers, and black slacks with his belt unbuckled.
"Keith! Watch your mouth! Kylie is right there in the living room." I laughed while covering his mouth with my hand.
Keith wrapped his arms around my petite waist and snuggled in my neck. "Hmm I'm sorry. How was your day" Keith asked while lightly swaying me side to side. "Um- I did some uh- yoga, um uh I cleaned" I answered fidgety, trying to leave out the part of me losing my engagement ring and looking for it nearly half the day.
"I also uh-"
"And me and mommy looked for that shiny thingy today" Kylie cut me off while still paying attention to her cartoons. Keith giggled but really didn't pay Kyle any mind.
"Oh really what shiny thingy, babygirl" Keith smiled and walked toward the couch where Kylie sat.
"I was mommy's shiny ring thingy, we looked for it everywhere and we couldn't find it anywhere, we even checked under the c-" she rambled on till I cut her off. "Kyle I thought that was our little secret remember?" I nervously said "oh yeah! I'm sorry mommy. Mommy told me not to tell you, daddy" Kyle confessed so innocently.
