It was one o'clock by the time I got home.
I ran upstairs to my room and I lied on my bed and started to cry. I took my blanket and covered my head. I couldn't sleep knowing Sam was dying. So I got up and crept down to the kitchen and I grabbed some bread and brought it back to my room. After I ate I put on a movie and slowly drifted off to sleep.
In the morning I woke up put my slippers on and made my way down stairs. When I got to the bottom I looked over to the living room. In the living room my parents were talking and drinking coffee with two cops. I walked in to the living room looking and feeling very confused.
"Good morning hunny." My father said. "It's not that good." I mummbled under my breath. I sat down in the empty chair across from the two cops. "Here babe, I made you a tea." My mother said handing me my favourite tea cup.
"So why are they here?" I said pointing to the cops sitting the couch. "They came, and they have some news for you. Okay what is it?" I asked them. "Well it's about your friend....Sam" I butted it. "Yeah him, well he died this morning at 3:30." I couldn't talk or even cry or do anything at all. I just sat there looking at the two cops. Then I felt a small tear find it's way out of my eye and trikle down my cheek.
I slammed my cup on the table and raced up stairs to my room. I slammed the door and flopped on my bed. I burried my head in my pillow and cried, and cried, and cried.
Three hours later I heard a knock at the door, but I didn't feel like getting up, so I rolled covered myself with my blanket and tried to hide myself from the world. I didn't even want to know who was at the door. "Katie!" yelled my father. "What do you want?" I replied. "Someone's here to see you." I couldn't think of anyone I wanted to see right now. "Come down here please hunny." I slowly threw the blanket off of me and went down stairs.
I turned to my right and saw Sam's parents sitting on the love seat holding each other crying. I quickly walked over to them and sat right in the middle. They each wrapped a arm around me and we all cried. "Here." My mom said handing over a box of kleenex. I pulled out a few and wiped my eyes. "I can't help but think this is all my fault." I said crying some more. "No hunny it wasn't it was just an accident. Truely an accident. You two were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Just then my dad brought in some iced tea. "No thanks." I said. "Kaite the funeral's next week and we want you to be the guest speaker." I looked up with tears in my eyes. "Really? We couldn't think of anyone else we would want to do it." I smiled. "I'll do it." I stood up and sat in the empty chair across from them. "I still can't believe what happened." I stated. "I know it'll take a while to settle in." Sam's mom said. I started to cry yet again. "I'm sorry. I just can't take this."
I ran to my room. I put on a CD that Sam made me with all of my favourite songs. I lay on my bed staring at the celing thinking about him. "Katie are you in there?" His mother asked. "Uh-huh. Can I come in?" She asked opening the door. "Sure."
She entered with a bag full of stuff. She sat on the edge of my bed and put the bag by her feet. "I brought you somethings I thought you might want." First she pulled out a bear, it was the bear I have giving Sam for our 1 year anniversary. I grabbed the bear and hugged it.Then she pulled out Sam's sweater, the sweater I wore more then him probably. I picked it up put it on and clinched the neck and smelt it. The sweater smelt like Sam. The last thing she had was Sam's pillow off his bed. I grabbed the pillow that was on my bed and threw it across the room, then I replced it with the one she brought me. "Well I hope you liked it." she finished off, she picked up the empty bag and walked out closing the door behind her.
I ran down stairs after her. As I reached the last step she turned around and looked at me. I opened my arms and wrapped her in a hug. "Thanks, I love all of it. You're welcome hum I'll see you soon." she gave me a kiss on the cheek and let go.
I turned to go back upstairs. I was halfway up the stairs when my mom asked "What do you got there?" she asked. "Just somthings Sam's mom gave me of his. Oh that was nice of her." She said. "Yeah I know." I finished the conversation and walked up the rest of the stairs.
