The girls had just bid their goodbyes to Aria, who will be spending the next two weeks in cruising in France with the love of her life Ezra Fitz and now as a married couple, they are planning to take a break from all the Rosewood drama. Alison, Emily, Hanna and Spencer squeezed each other's hands tightly as they watched Aria step elegantly into the limousine arranged by the Fitzgerald family to take the newly weds to the Philadelphia airport. The girls watched with teary eyes as the couple took off.
"How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard... even though it's just going to be a fortnight!" Spencer looked away and wiped her eyes.
"Tell me again Spence, which famous philosopher quoted that?" Hanna turned to her and patted her shoulder.
"Winnie the Pooh," Spence replied softly with a slight laugh, but still could not look Hanna in the eye.
"God, I'm officially jealous of Aria's love life. Caleb and I, we didn't have a proper wedding, not to mention a honeymoon." Hanna ranted and for a moment, she pictured stepping out of Harrods, one hand holding Caleb's and the other with a bunch of shopping bags.
"You two can have one whenever you feel like it," Emily gave Hanna her reassuring smile. Then, she took Alison's hand and the two of them walked to the Brew.
Spencer, who is still trying to hold back her tear sat down on a park bench. Hanna followed and put her arms around her miserable friend. "What's up Spence, you know that we are always here for you, like a second family."
This is too much for Spencer. Alas, tears poured non stop down her face as she buried her head into Hanna's shoulders. "Oh my gosh Spence, what happened," Hanna, shocked from the state of her, gave her a hug and attempted to comfort her.
"Nothing, it's just that all of you have loved ones and I am just this woman with nothing since college and letting all of you down with my complicated life. I don't even know if Toby or anyone likes me. I feel like I am way out of league." Spencer muttered and for minutes, she just ranted her whole heart out, from breaking up with Toby, to seeing her ex fall in love with someone that is not her, to the tragic death of his fiancee... to now.
Spencer sat up slowly and took deep breaths. She looked at Hanna, who was in shock and felt terrible. Hanna had always envied Spencer's relationship with everything; she is the master of time and the queen of knowledge. In Hanna's mind, Spencer is always the perfect one, the smart one, the one everyone likes- her wavy brown hair and fair skin, matching perfectly with her light coloured blazer and her riding boots. But at this moment, Spencer was right, she is out of her league. "Listen Spence, you deserve Toby and Toby deserves you, after all you've been through together. Plus, I see you two together since high school," Hanna finally found the words she needed to say. "It will take time, but just be patient Spence, and he'll come to you," she added.
"Thanks Han, you are a great friend," Spencer said, as she leant towards Hanna and blew her a kiss. "I have to get back." Then she stood up, her long hair danced along the wind, one wave at a time, hands in her pockets and strolled back to the House of Hastings.
