Trey thumbed through the manila folders in the file cabinet. They contained book keeping info, employees information, and business charts, but nothing of real value.
"A baby could open this shit," Spider boasted, breaking into a wide toothless victorious grin as the lock popped.
"Better be worth it," Trey abandoned his task and quickly knelt down beside him.
It was. There were several brown unlabeled envelopes.  Spider was quick to tear into them.  Both men gasped like children on Christmas morning.  Each one of the five envelopes contained at least a thousand in fifty dollar bills .
"Woohoo!" Spider hooted.
"Shhhh!" Trey shoved him."Why don't we just go run screaming up n down the hall!"
"Sorry dude...aint never held this much money in my life."
There was a hunger in both men's eyes, that only gathering up all of the money into a paper grocery bag could feed. The moment of victory was short lived though.

It all happened kind of fast. Too fast for Trey to later remember the earth shattering details.
An on looker probally would have this story to tell.
So this was how it played out:
Julian was suddenly standing in the open doorway with his mouth a jar. Not quite believing what he was seeing with his own two eyes. How was it possible that this could even be happening? This was the kind of shit that happened in movies or in a nightmare.
"What? ...Who are you guys?" he nervously stuttered. Even though it was more than odvious who they were.
"This is private property...why are you here?" Julian tried to remain composed even though his insides were all to shreds.
Trey and Spider were rendered wide eyed ,while looking like deer caught in a cars headlights.
"We... we just came to rob ya lil' ass." Then Spider did the thing that Trey had been so afraid would happen. He smoothly pulled his pistol out of his pants, and pointed it at Julian.
For some strange reason Trey was stunned. Its not that he doubted that Spider would pull this shit . No, his fear came from somewhere much more chilling... the knowledge that Spider would, without hesitation, shoot to kill.
This was his worst nightmare, in full awake mode. That creature under the bed had finally revealed itself. And it was too horrifying for words to even touch.

Julians felt his body begin to tremble. All that he could focus on was the gun. His heart was beating  so thunderous that it threatened to burst apart inside of his ribcage.
Meanwhile, Treys heart sank. But he forced his lips to push out, "We don't need that...lets just get the hell outta here". He found himself tugging almost forcibly at Spider's arm while clutching the bag of money, protectively to his chest.
"He know what we look like."  The voice came out of Spider's mouth, but it was more like some demonous growl that Trey didn't even recognize. And to make matters even worse he could tell that Spider was obviously getting some kind of perverse rush off of the whole situation.
That's when the full terrifying reality hit him like a ton of bricks. 'This was no longer his best friend, this was a blood thirsty maniac'.
"Please...i won't tell....just go. Keep the money. I don't care...please", Julian was begging for his life.
Treys next few minutes were run off of pure adrenaline.
There was so much happening and all at once that neither of them could grab hold of reality. Which was ironic because it was a moment that would change all of their lives forever.
Spiders finger pulling the trigger...Julian throwing his arms over his face with a scream that would have been his last if not for the fact that Trey jumped full body onto Spider ....the gun shot echoed...a short struggle between Trey and Spider as each man tried to gain control of the weapon...another shot was fired off...Spider went limp in Treys arms.
Trey slid down to the floor right along with his best friend. There was a beating sound filling his ears so loudly that no other sound was audible.
"Spider!"He heard himself cry out the name but it didn't feel real. Nothing was feeling real at that moment.
"Wake the fuck up!!!"  He didn't. And there was blood pouring out of his forehead like a faucet.  Trey held his hand franticly on the womb, trying unsuccessfully to stop the bleeding. He forgot all about the man that was standing there stareing down at them. He forgot not to cry. He  heard himself screaming out Spiders name repeatedly, like a lost spirit.
He was birthing the kind of anguish that meant that something was so wrong that it would never be right again.
