"Wake up and get yourself together....someone posted your bail." Those were the words that woke Trey up from a restless night of heart stopping dreams...nightmares.
Wiping his bullet red eyes he had to rewind the words inside of his acheing head, and play them over again , before they registered.
He face palmed himself before his lips uttered out, "What the fuck did you say?"
"You deaf? I said you been sprung...for the time being".
He tossed a plastic sack filled with Treys belongings into his lap.
"Who?..."
"Don't know ..dont care.  Somebody who didn't want to be named. Somebody gotta crush on you." The officer sing songed, like he was a school bully in  grade school.
He wasn't 100% sure that he wasn't dreaming but if it meant he could leave this shit hole he wasnt going to pinch himself awake.

Although he was given his clothes back , they were still covered in blood. Spiders blood.
"So they have a little blood on them.   I just follow orders", the detective grunted.
Treynum didn't really expect them to wash his clothes first, but even a hint of condolence along with the attitude would have been the human thing to do.  Even a wild animal deserved that much.
A life was over, and the only one who even gave a shit was him.  He would be the first to admitt that Spider had done some messed up crap during his life, but it just didn't feel like the man should have to pay for them with his life. How was that justice?

The fact was that he was the closest thing to a family that Spider had.  The two of them never needed blood to connect them. They had something much more solid...they had eachothers back . Had...

Treynum made a beeline to the nearest restroom. Locked himself in side of the Lysol tainted toilet.
He could still smell Spider locked away in the fibers of the blood stained shirt.
His hands begin to franticly splatter water onto the offending scent before his mind could catch up. Trey had to get that damned blood out!
Wash the realization away. Never seeing Spider again?
The agony, guilt, and disbelief were choking the very life out of him.

The water was instantly running hot and burned his hands like a branding iron.  He merely gritted and wore the pain like a cross.  He wanted....needed to feel something other than mourning. Anything.
How was he supposed to deal with this whole tragity?  Spider...gone...forever.
Right on cue tears spilled out. Violently cursing  down his cheeks. Trey removed his nearly blistered  hands from under the faucet. At this point he could no longer feel his own flesh anyway.
Slumping down, his back against the cold wall he pulled  out a cigarette  with shakey hands.
Deep drags from the cigarette did nothing to stop the sobs from seeping out, and escaping into the air.
Trey finally let himself loose control.   For the next half hour. He smoked and cried. Away from others eyes, opinions and judgements he let it all out.  Sobbing until he was certain that he would never cry again for Spider. For sanity sake he needed for it to be over and done with.  He had to close that door of needing his best friend from this day forward.
Things always ended up the same way for him.  Loving someone, anyone, had only ever gotten him heartache. He figured that he had had enough loss to last a lifetime.
It wasn't pity for himself. It was just the facts. He couldn't go through this kind of agony ever again.   He just wasn't that strong.
Trey emerged from the restroom a little less lonely and a lot more alone.
