After a few moments of sitting in a comfortable silence, the only sound was the beating of his heart and our breathing, we were interrupted by the ringing of my phone. I reluctantly unraveled myself from Callum's arms, sighing quietly, and searched in my bag to put an end to the annoying buzzing sound.

Jess' face was shown on my screen telling me she was the one calling and my stomach turned at the thought of me explaining myself. It's not that I did much wrong - just that I ditched school - but I didn't know how to explain the events that lead me to be sitting in Callum's arms in this beautiful place.

"Where the hell are you Liddia I've been waiting at your locker for like five minutes now" She said fustrated from the other end of the phone.

Sweeping my hair from my face I looked up at Callum who was staring at me contently, when our eyes met he gave me a small smile which I returned.

"I-I uh couldn't deal with the rest of school today so we left" I rushed out

"We?"

"Uh- Callum" I spoke quietly "and before you say anything else just say you'll cover for me and I will tell you everything later"

She giggled a little "Sure but you have a lot of explaining to do" and with that she ended the call.

I looked over to Callum who was still looking at me with a closed mouth smile on his face. I felt uncomfortable under his gaze, feeling like he was analizing me, picking out all my flaws which was probably a lot. I looked down to hide my face from his gaze slightly.

He chuckled softly taking his phone out from his pocket.

"It's almost one, you hungry?" He asked, returning his phone to his pocket.

"Uh yeah" I wanted to punch myself in the face right there. I don't usually get nervous around boys but Callum made me stutter and mix up my words alot, I hated it.

He stood up reaching his arm out to help me up, taking his hand I stood up beside him "We should go into town, to the cafe on Edward street"

"In our uniforms and get caught?" I laughed slightly looking down at myself and then at what he was wearing, black skinny jeans and a white polo top. The school uniform was: black trousers/skirt, a white shirt and a black and blue tie so he wasn't completely off.

"Well unless you want to go home to get changed and get caught?"

"My mum is at work, I will just change out of my shirt it won't take long." I looked over to him and he nodded.

It took 15 minutes to get to my house and the walk was filled with a comfortable silence. I didn't mind the silence and neither did he. I had a feeling he was looking at me a few times but never did I test my suspicion becasue... well I was scared.

I dug my keys out of my bag and opened my front door, stepping in then turning around noticing that Callum wasnt following.

"Come in and just wait here I wont be long" He followed then nodded and got out his phone.

I moved as quickly as I could up the stairs and into my bedroom taking off my shirt as I went. I picked out a plain grey crop top with sleves just above my elbow to go with the black high waisted pencil skirt I was already wearing. I swapped my tights for over the knee socks then slipped on my white high top converse. I looked my self over in the mirror, smoothed a couple of stray hairs and I was good to go. I skipped down the sairs to find Callum, eye brows frowned, still looking at his phone. When I came to a stop at the bottom he looked up at me.

"ready?" he smiled that small smile, the smile I was beginning to love.

"yeah, lets go."

He looked me over smiling and shaking his head, I blushed but headed for the door before he could see how nervous and awkward he made me.

Callum opened the door for me and I ducked under his arm.

"Thank you" I turned around to face him and he just smiled in return.

"Where do you want to sit?" he questioned and I looked around to see many open seats, the cafe was failrly small and not quite as busy as you would expect for luch time. I spotted a window booth and saw it was looking out at the trees out side.

"Over here" I started walking towards the booth hoping he was following behind. When he slipped into the seat in front of me it was confirmed.

A tall blonde haired woman walked towards our table with a smile.

"Hi, can I get yous anything to drink?"

"I'll have a coke and..." he looked towards me

"Water please"

"I'll be back to take your orders" she said while scribbling words down on her pad note, still smiling and then walked away.

I heard the jingling of bells indicating another customer had entered, I didn't bother to look at who walked in so I continued studying the menu in front of me. I glanced up to see Callum almost frustrated with wide eyes.

"Are you okay?" I asked and he seemed to snap out of the state of shock he was momentarily in.

"Uh yeah fine, I think we should go somewhere else to eat? I'm not really feeling this place." He quickly stood up from his seat while I stayed seated, confused. He looked uneasy only looking in one direction. I followed his gaze, it landed upon a buff bald man, late 30s or maybe 40s he looked quite intimidating but he hadn't even glanced our way so I still didn't understand why Callum was so on edge.

"Let's go to subway, you like subway right ?" he said as he lead me out of the cafe quickly.

"Who was he? and why are you so on edge?"

"Too many questions Liddia."

He tried to grab my hand to keep me walking but I snatched it away and took a step back looking at him.

"Who the hell is he Callum?" I snapped

"No one, we'll no one you need to know anyway" I was irritated by this but I didn't let it faze me.

"Are you scared of him or something?" I asked taking a step closer to him, closing the gap.

A low laugh escaped his lips which only infuriated me further. "No no, not at all I just dont want any trouble today"

"You said we could get to know each other when you took me out" I said too stubborn to let it go.

"And we can" he said with a shrug "but knowing who he is has nothing to do with who I am" he protested. "I don't want to drag you into my shit Liddia" he sighed.

I decided to let it go because who was I too demand answers from a boy I had met not even a week ago. But that was it, I had not even known him one week and I wanted to know everything about him, he was so mysterious to me and even though it irritated me I liked it.

Callum stood there staring at me while I let all of those thoughts bounce around in my head.

"Subways this way" I said and started to walk in the direction of the sandwich shop, still baffled in thoughts.

He smiled and shook his head taking bigger steps to catch up to me.
