Never say goodbye

Marie jumped into the SUV in a panic and screamed, "Go! Go! Go!"
She shoved at the driver's head so hard that he hit the steering wheel, "move it dang it! We're gonna be late! Weren't you in a hurry to leave?!" Looking back like they were supposed to race against a coming tsunami, the driver finally started moving as a raging  Aqua stormed after their car like the said tsunami with her hand stuck to her head screaming profanities. A crowd stood in her way stopping her as she roared in outrage, thrashing wanting to be released.
Marie looked back with an evil glee as they went further and further away and disappeared around a bend, the trees closing the curtains to her final act. She could practically hear the applause - no- standing ovation to her final stunt.
Who had the last laugh now! She thought to herself as she sat straight with deep satisfaction only to find Jax staring at her with disbelief.
"You know she's gonna have to shave off her hair"
She gave an unapologetic shrug.
"Don't you feel even a little bit bad about it?"
Marie just rolled her eyes in response
"really?" Jax asked to confirm her noncommittal response.
"well, I once tried to be nice to her, let's just say my response now befits her response then."
Jax faked a shiver, "you're dark."
Marie responded with an evil grin, "you ain't seen nothing yet."
Jax frowned but laughed nonetheless. Despite her callousness, she was still too adorable. And despite it all, his heart grew warm with love for his mate.

After about an hour's ride Marie was starting to dose off when her senses tingled and she grew wide awake. The red shade of the setting sun broke through the trees and she saw a distinct figure racing through the woods alongside their ride. She felt her heart ache and her eyes sting with tears for she knew who that was. Even having made peace with herself over leaving everything behind, leaving her brother was the one thing that she couldn't make peace with. But she needed to set him free.
She also knew that it wouldn't be long before he couldn't run alongside them as they left their territory.
And she felt it. The minute they went past the border line into another's jurisdiction, even without the loud pained howl that drew a line with a hot dagger across her heart, she would have known. That without a doubt, even as the sun had finally sank giving way to darkness, so was the life she knew and was used to. It's not the end, she thought, that's why I'll never say goodbye.
She knew she was sobbing her heart out again, and if it wasn't for the arms holding her in place, she would have probably fallen apart into pieces.
As unsure as her future was, there's one thing she knew for sure, she was no longer alone and misunderstood, hopefully not a burden, she had found her home. She wasn't going to that home, she was already there. In the arms of her mate.
