The next morning, some time before ten, Alex and Charlie are sitting on the parade float with the other four winners. Frequently, Charlie notices the sideways glances Violet's giving him.

"Alex, why is Violet looking at me like that?" Alex looks at the girl and smiles. "I think she might like you Charlie." "Oh." He quickly glances at her before lowering his voice. "Should I like her back?" Alex can't help laughing.

Just then, the clock begins to chime. After the tenth bong, Mr. Wonka came out. Alex's jaw drops, not just from his flawless somersault but how handsome he is. The lucky winners file in one by one, Charlie being the last. After shaking his hand, Wonka directs his attention Alex. As soon as their eyes align, the world freezes. It only lasts a moment before he asks Charlie who she is.

"This is my older sister Alex." She smiles and holds out her hand, he takes it and they instantly feel a spark. Her cheeks flush innocently and he smiles at the sight, eyes sparkling.

"It's nice to meet you Alex." Her eyes gently gaze into his, causing her blush to deepen. "You as well Mr. Wonka." His perfectly sky blue eyes match her dress and make her heart flutter, she slumps with a secret sadness as his hand falls from her grasp. As they all go inside, she can't help wishing it never had.

They step inside where everyone takes off their coats to hang. Lost in thought about his touch, Alex hangs her brown coat up just as her red lipstick rolls out and onto the floor with a faint clack. A hand picks it up and holds it out. "I believe this is yours." She turns at the gentle voice and freezes upon seeing Wonka.

"Yes thank you." His smile's sweet and small.  "Your welcome." She takes it, hand brushing over his and retracts with furiously blushing cheeks.

"I don't recall hearing your profession Ms. Bucket." She manages a silly trembling smile. "I'm a substitute teacher whenever it's needed. But mostly I'm Charlie's shoulder to lean on." "He's a very lucky boy." Her whole face is unavoidable scarlet. "I suppose." There's that sparkle in his eyes again, lifting her off the ground and onto cloud nine. She couldn't help secretly slumping as he let go and walked away. For a short while her mind was elsewhere, until the group entered the chocolate room.
