CHAPTER#5: Melvina's First Day PT 1

BEEP.. BEEP.. BEEP..

I sit up yawning as I shut off the alarm clock. I hear a huge THUD. My eyes were opened completely as I turn to look towards Melvinas side of the room.

"Well damn does that thing do that every mornin?" I jump up quickly as I realizing that was Melvina's voice. I go over to the side of her bed to see her on the floor. 'Morning Melly, how did you sleep?"

In ask stretching my hand to help her up from the floor. She doesn't answer she just glares at me, probably upset that the alarm clock had woken her up. I said 'Looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed.' She replied with "Ya think?"

I couldn't help but laugh, she looked really upset. "Do ya always wake up at 6 o'clock in the damn mornin?" Melvina asked.  I replied with 'Yep, it's a school day so duh...' She opened her mouth to say something but there was a knock at the door.

'Come in!' It was my aunt. "Oh, well good morning niecey I didn't think you'd be up so early." My aunt said. "Morning ma' what smells so good?", asked Melvina. "Morning Mel, I'm surprised to see you up so early and oh, that's just breakfast."

I walked over to my closet and grabbed an outfit for school, while they talked. I then said 'Aunty I'm going to get dressed and I'll be down for breakfast okay?' "Ok sweety see you when you come down, and Melvina get dressed and stop bein lazy," my aunt said.

Melvina rolled her eyes and grunted as a response. I simply snickered at her grumpiness, this girl really isn't a morning person. I went to the restroom washed my face, brushed my teeth, and got dressed. I wet my hair so it can be a little more curly.

Then I looked in my mirror and checked out myself in my outfit. Conceded much? Today I was wearing baby blue Levi jeans with a white crop top that says 'LOVE' on it with my small jean jacket and my blue and white Levi shoes.

To top it all off I put on my very shiny pink lip gloss. I know I'm only going to school but can't a girl look cute? When I stepped out of the bathroom I was so surprised to see Melvina fully dressed and ready to go.

Her long brunette hair was in a high messy bun. She was wearing big gold hoop earrings a shirt that said 'Flawless' and blue ripped jeans from the thighs down. Also, with some clear lip gloss on.

"Took ya long enough," She said. I walked over to my bed, grabbed my unicorn back pack, gave Melvina a devilish grin then dashed out of the room and down the stairs. Once I went into the kitchen I seen Melvina right behind me out of breath like she ran a marathon.

I said, 'Not even obese people are that tired after running down 14 steps.' Then she said, "And only people that have teeth are able to talk." I furrowed my eyebrows not getting it, then I frowned. She started laughing hysterically and I punched her in her shoulder.

"Ow... someone's mad," she said. My aunt came out of nowhere and said,"Alright, alright, settle down now or y'all breakfast gone get cold." I stared at the food in complete Awe..... my aunt made biscuits, bacon, boiled eggs, sausage, pancakes, and on the sides where two pitchers one filled with orange juice and the other with milk.

                                          *Few Minutes Later*

'Mmm.... I'm stuffed this food was so.. delicious! 'I said. Melvina said, "No wonder, you ate like it's been years you animal." My cheeks were flushed from embarrassment. "Oh hush, now y'all need a ride to get going to school girls?" asked my aunt. Melvina looked like she wanted a ride so why not mess with her a little?

'Actually I was kind of hoping me and Melly could catch up on a few things so, let's walk.' Melvina looked like she was ready to kill me at this point but, I didn't care.

Melvina faked a smile and said, "Fine, let's get goin then." She grabbed her rainbow colored back pack and walked towards the door with me following behind her. Before we walked out my aunt said, "Melvina don't go gettin in no fights now ya hear?"

Melvina responded with "Yea ma' I'll try my best.... love ya." I waved bye to my aunt and walked out. Me and Melvina talked about things that we've been through also about some of her recent fights she had.

After many years later of walking, or so it felt, we made it to the school. Me and Melvina went inside to be met by Anita. "Hey India!" Anita yelled while hugging me super tight. She then let go and gave a friendly smile to Melvina.

I said, 'Anita this is my cousin Melvina, Melvina this is Anita my......friend.' Well that was awkward. Melvina extended her hand to shake Anita's but Anita grabbed her her rist and pulled her into a really tight hug.

Melvina quickly pulled away from Anita's grip and said, " Yea, uh..nice to meet cha." Anita then said, " Welcome hope you enjoy our school, um... I'll see you guys around, bye." With that she waved and left. Thank God I knew where the cafeteria was.

I asked Melvina 'Do you want to go hang out in the cafeteria until first period?' Then she said, "Sure we can chill, but, lemme go to the office and get a schedule real quick." But before we could go to the office we were stopped by some boy.

"No need cutie, there are schedules posted up all over the walls." The boy said. Melvina started blushing "Uh... thanks." She said shyly. Wait did I just use Melvina and shy in the same sentence?

The boy then said, "By the way my name's Malik, I'm gonna go get my sister so we won't be late for class but, I sure hope to see you around .......... uh..-" "Melvina," She finished. "Right, beautiful name for a beautiful girl." Malik said as he winked at Melvina, then he left.

Melvina then turned to me and said "WOW." I giggled then said, 'Well let's look on the wall for your first period.' She nodded her head in agreement. "DAMMIT!" I heard Melvina shout. I ran to where she was because she had already walked off towards the wall.

'What? What's wrong?' I asked scared and a bit shaken. "I've got math first period Mr. Howard?" She said. I sighed in relief knowing nothing was wrong she's soo... dramatic at times.

'Hey, I've got him first period as well.' Once we were finished going over the paper turns out we've got all the same classes except for p.e. . We started walking off until someone bumped into me making me fall on my hands and knees.

Melvina helps me up "Oh my gosh, are you alright?" 'Yea, yea.. I'll be fine.' I say while getting up and dusting myself off. Melvina turned around and said, "Hey how bout watching where ya goin next time?" "And what if I don't huh.. what you gonna do about it?"

I've heard that soft voice before was it? Nah... couldn't be. Could it? I turned around to be face to face with Michael. Only he was staring at Melvina with angry eyes meanwhile Melvina was doing the same. Melvina steps in his face and says, " I can show ya better than I can tell ya." Melvina started to take off her hoop earrings.

Well this is going to be interesting so much for no fighting.
