CHAPTER#8: The Question

I'm shaking.... and I'm sleep?? Is there an earthquake? OMG why aren't my eyes opening? Am I dead?

"No you ain't dead stupid, you ain't openin ya eyes cuz you lazy
Now get uuuuuuupp we got school!" I quickly shoot up from my pillow to find Melvina was on top of me shaking me roughly. I yawn and rub my eyes that I could barely open. She gets off of me and my bed and in one swift motion she opens the curtain.

I quickly shield my eyes with my blanket I was wrapped in and I lie back down. 'Please just, just, five minutes and I'll be up in a second' I say pleading for her to let me be. I hear her feet stomping over to the side of me bed, she then out of nowhere snatches my blanket off of me. She says, "NO get uppp we not gonna be late cuz you wanna sleep all day long, plus I already got things to deal with of my own now hurry up!"

I sit up and I point to my bedroom door 'Get Out! Let me get dressed.' She looks at and says, "No, because when I leave you not gonna get up, i know you indy you not fooling nobody." Before I was about to say something there was a knock at the bedroom door. Melvina goes over and opens it and it's my aunt. 'Good morning aunty, I'm going to start getting up now don't worry I'll be fast,' I say getting out of bed and walking over to the closet.

"Good morning niecey don't worry about me honey, I just came to tell you that you have a friend asking for you at the door," she says. My eyes nearly pop out of my head and Melvina notices and snickers. I rush past my aunt to see who it was I never had any friends who knew where I lived except....... Edwin?

'Hey, Edwin wha-what are you doing here?' He says," Hey, I uh,.. uh.. do you n-need a um.. walking b-buddy?, I'm just gonna g-go I'm sorry." He turned to walk away until I stopped him. 'Wait! No you don't have to go and yea I'd love to walk with you again but, if you don't mind waiting because I'm not quite uh.. you know ready.'

He looks down at my clothes, or what I call sleeping attire and says, "Oh, yea, yea no problem take your time I have all day." I smile and say,' Cool um.. do you, you know want to come in until I'm all done?' "Actually, I think I'll just wait out here I like being out in the open atmosphere," he says with a small smile.

I nodd my head in agreement before dashing upstairs to my closet and then my bathroom getting fully dressed into my black jeans, my black and white tee shirt, and my black and white checker vans. I put my hair in a quick messy bun, grabbed my backpack a bottle of water from my dresser and went back downstairs to see Melvina on the couch on her phone.

She starts clapping really loud and says,"Wow you took FOREVER goodness can we leave yet or would you like to go save all of the zoo animals too?" I smile then say,' I can make an exception.' She looks at me as though I'm crazy grabs her backpack then says, "Wonderful, do it on a day that I'm not with you please, now c'mon before we are late."

When we step out we are accompanied by Edwin standing up from sitting on the porch. 'Edwin, this is my cousin Melvina, Melvina this is my friend Edwin.' Melvina says, "It's nice to meet you Edwin, I just want to let you know that you will be seeing a lot of me and though it may be unbelievable I don't like people, so try to stay on my safe side. For your own good of course and safety."

I give Melvina a glare and she puts her hands up in surrender. She then says, " Oh and just one more thing, if you like my cousin you better not break her heart because if you do-," she is cut off by Edwin saying," No, no of course not I wouldn't ever dare break her heart let alone date her because, because.... I'm, I.. Uh...-" I am a little offended geez I don't look that bad do I? He was then cut of by Melvina saying," Any day now sirr you're what? C'mon spit it out. "

He begins to turn red all over his face and he whispers something while looking down at the concrete. I wasn't trying to interrogate him or anything but I had to know what he said. 'What did you say Edwin?' He looks up at me and Melvina from the ground and says, "I'm, I'm..................... I'm gay."
