I ran as fast as I could down the alley way. It was dark, and foggy.
One little street lamp lit up my otherwise dismal path. I almost tripped over a can I didn't see.
I froze as I came to an unexpected dead end, heart pounding.
I heard something snap behind me, and turned around just in time to watch a giant creature leap off the ground, pouncing at me, hitting my chest and slamming me to the cold hard ground. It was huge, and it's sparse fur was grayish pink.
Like a giant rat.
I screamed as its long claws sunk into my chest, ripping the skin away and yanking my heart out. Blood flew everywhere.
I watched, for almost a second, as it took one juicy bite out of it before the world went black.
I yanked the goggles off and threw them across the room, grabbing Tom's knee harder.
He was laughing behind me like his life depended on it.
I sat on his lap, trying out the Virtual Reality goggles. I'd tripped and fallen onto his lap as I 'ran'.
Harrison almost fell over in fits of laughter as I panted.
"Tom, that is the most violent and gory thing I've ever seen! Never, ever make me do that again!" I cried, looking back at the hysterically-laughing boy.
He covered his mouth as he howled into it.
I climbed off his lap, almost tripping over Harrison and almost fell to the floor from tripping over Laura.
Z caught me. "You're so cute!" She announced.
Laura nodded as laughter shook her.
Tom gasped a couple times, trying to get his breath back from laughing at me.
Jacob filmed me. "Look everyone, she's just played 'the most violent and gory thing' ever! Wasn't her scream precious?"
I flipped his camera off.
"Aw, come on babes, don't be sore," Z said.
"I am sore," I muttered. "My legs hurt real bad."
"Then next time establish a safe word!" Harrison said, and everyone was back to howling again.
"That's not funny guys!" I cried. "And that's also not what I meant! It's from the bumping into stuff while wearing those goggles, you children!"
"C-can I make a few suggestions Tom?" Z said in a voice chocked with laughter, ignoring me.
I shook my head as Tom shrugged. "Let's not!"
"I suggest-"
"Shh!!" Tom whispered frantically, leaping off the couch and almost yanking me away from Z. "My mom's home!"
Everyone jumped up off the floor and settled neatly on the couches.
Tom pointed to the one he sat on, so we both raced there.
"What've you kids been doing?" His mum asked, setting a bag on the floor.
I smiled pleasantly, crossing my leg as best I could in the awkward position Tom and I ended up in from racing to the chair.
He sat almost beneath me, and I sat kind of on him and on the chair.
One of his arms was on each side of the chair, but mine were balancing me.
Tom's mum smiled back.
"We were playing a game," I answered.
She eyed the goggles on the floor. "I see."
I nodded. "A-and what have you been up to?"
She waved a little at Z, who waved back. "Checking on you famous kids. I have to be going though, but I dropped this off for T-"
Tom jumped right out of his seat. "I got it! Thanks!"
When he 'jumped right out of his seat' he knocked me to the floor.
Z and Laura jumped up. "Oh my god!" Z cried.
Tom's mother smiled at the floor. "Well, you kids enjoy the rest of your day."
She walked out, but just as Z pulled me off the floor and Laura brushed me off, she popped her head back in. "And don't hurt yourself with Tom's goggles."
As soon as we heard the door shut again we all sighed in relief.
Tom slumped against the wall. "Whoo."
I laughed, and the others joined in weakly. "Guys, Tom's mother, Tom, and myself have something to tell you."
Laura squinted at me.
Z's whole demeanor lit up.
Harrison smirked.
Jacob looked confused.
"Darling, you want to do the honors?" Tom asked, out of breath from laughing.
I picked up my purse and pulled out a ring, slipping it back onto my left finger. "Does this speak for itself at all?" I asked in a doubtful voice.
Everyone screamed in excitement.
I got mobbed by two girls who wanted to see the ring, and Tom was mobbed by two boys congratulating him in such a score.
"They're getting married!" Z squealed.
I smiled widely as Laura jumped up and down.
"They're getting married they're getting married," Z kept chanting.
Tom shrugged at me from his place in the small crowd of super excited people.
As soon as Z stopped chanting, she paused. "Hold up. What's in the bag?"
Tom hid it behind him. "Certainly not Paddy's remains."
I snorted a bit.
Z stayed totally still for a few seconds. "Alright, so then what is it?"
I held my hands up and Tom tossed it over everyone's heads.
Harrison made a wild attempt to catch it, and ended up face-planting the coffee table.
I caught it and hid it behind my back. "It's definitely not a wedding veil."
Laura and Z both made their own wild attempts to get it from me.
As soon as most of the excitement died down, I said to Z and Laura, "We're doing a wedding Lip Sync Battle. You two are helping, along with some cousins and friends."
They were both so excited.
"What song are you doing?" Harrison asked.
Z gave him a look. "Like we'd tell you."
"Even I don't know, mate," Tom said with a small shrug.
Laura was bouncing in her seat. "This'll be so much fun!"
"No one but family can know! And that means mine and Tom's family, not yours!" I said quickly.
Everyone nodded.
"Great. And Tom, you can wear your SpiderMan suit," I said in a resigned tone. "On one condition. You wear it under your suit. And I'll attach a small black spider symbol to my dress if you promise to do so!"
Tom grabbed my hand. "Thanks, future Mrs. Holland."
I smiled. "You're welcome Mr. Holland."
Everyone clapped.
"Let's play another game with these goggles!"
"NO!"
