For the past couple of minutes the adults held a conversation elsewhere while the three of you sat in awkward silence. The speechlessness made sense because both you and Jungkook had lots on your mind about the current situation. On the other hand, Taehyung just didn't want to be there so he could care less if anyone besides the parents talk to him.

You decided to break the stillness because you couldn't stand it. There was so much in your head but you decided to address Jungkook's issue first. "Uh, Jungkook may I speak to you in private?" you finally asked.

-

"I think it's about time for you to, maybe confide with me about your family? Because I need answers and I'm stuck in a pit. I won't ask questions but I do hope you end up doing the talking." You sighed.

Suddenly your eyes popped up. "Wait a minute, so the call you got when I had a text from my parents. That was for this? Oh right I said I won't ask questions." You lightly smacked your lips as if they committed a crime.

"To answer your question, yes. And you're right I think it's about time for me to open up about my family to you." He inhaled and exhaled as a gesture of starting his story.

"Okay to begin, I used to live in a rural area and I came from an abused family. More specifically, it was mainly my dad who was constantly drunk and abusive towards my mom and I. My mom saved my five year old self from getting hit by my dad. When she took the hit, it caused her death. Later before I knew it, my dad died from a car accident. I believe it was at night when he was drunk and was wandering in the streets. Obviously I had nowhere to go so I was kept at an orphanage until one day Taehyung's family decided to adopt me. I also decided that I wanted to keep my surname as "Jeon" . It's the only thing I have related to my family. I'm sorry if my sentences are all over the place, I've never told this to anyone besides my adoptive parents." He apologized.

"When people ask about my family, I'd say I'm adopted but it's more than that. I hate when people feel pity for me and if I don't tell them enough, they'd dig deeper for information too. People learning about my past won't only ruin my reputation but also Taehyung and my adoptive parents." Jungkook added.

All of a sudden, everything made sense to you. Why he refused to talk about his family. Because it was hard. At the same time you wondered, how could it ruin their reputation. Taehyung's parents adopting a child and giving him a better life. How could that be horrible? It hurts to say but you do feel pitiful for him.

You cleared your throat and began speaking. "The puzzle pieces are slowly coming together now. And I know it must've been uncomfortable and hard for you to tell me about this so I just want to say thanks." You delivered an empathetic smile.

Once you both settled down, you decided that it was time to have a discussion with Taehyung. After all, he is the person you were set up with to marry.

-

"So.." You started.

"There's nothing to talk about betweeen us." He interrupted.

You sighed in frustration and couldn't believe that this was the person you had to be with. Obviously you didn't want to marry someone you've never met before but you were still hoping that he would be half decent. Kim Taehyung is nowhere close to decent as he was your worst enemy during school days.
