Nobody's going to court!

So Dante Valenti was human after all - he had fears. And one of those fears was 'court'. How deliciously exciting! Scarlett thought grimly, planning on using all the arsenal she had up her sleeve until Dante left her grandma's house alone.
Scarlett was sure though, that he wasn't afraid of going to court because of criminal dealings he didn't want exposed, no. He simply didn't want the publicity. It was always that with disgustingly wealthy people who cared a little too much about their reputations. She dealt with them everyday. That was the problem with being famous, popular or well known - everything you did, said, sometimes even thought, would be telecast to the whole world for their entertainment, and in most cases, it was the things you didn't want the world to know, discuss or interfere with. And like most rich families, Dante Valenti didn't want his exposed for the thieving bullies they were. It wouldn't look good on his perfect resume!
Thank you for literally screaming that in my ear, Valenti.

"But I thought, instead of staying here and arguing over forgeries and non forgeries, insulting each other and annoying the hell out of each other," she paused for dramatic effect and felt her heart skip at the thunderous look on his face, "we could go to court and have other people do the insulting for us."

Dante looked like he was contemplating wringing her neck, yet, he did it with such class, such cool, it was almost a turn on. Damn it! Focus.
"I thought I'd already said nobody's going to court? I'm not sure why you're still considering it an option. I must say I'm not used to repeating myself - it's very irritating." he said as he let go of the hand he'd grabbed to stop her from - wait, what had he thought she was going to do again? Great, he didn't even remember because the feel of her skin against his fingers had been most intoxicating. She was so soft, so feminine and her smell...

Scarlett surprised him by laughing - out loud like he'd told a deliberate joke that one had no choice but to laugh at. And she looked so beautiful laughing he felt his body shake with a deep satisfaction, of what, he didn't know yet. She was increasingly surprising him and he wasn't sure he could take it. He turned to her with a blank look and asked, "I don't quite recall saying something funny - please share this joke that's almost killing you."

Scarlett put out a hand to stall him from more talk because she was still laughing. He really thought he was lord and king over all that surrounded him, especially the people that surrounded him. That's why he was surprised she wasn't bending over back to satisfy his every need and demand. "I'm sorry, it's just, it's been a very long time since anyone told me what to do. Wait, has anyone ever told me what to do?" she scrunched her face in mock thought, as if trying really hard to remember something of significance.

Dante stood at his tallest and looked at Scarlett as she did everything she could to rile him. Why, he didn't know. But it was really turning him on. And annoying him. But mostly turning him on. "Have you quite finished?" he inquired with a raised brow, walking back to his seat like a man who had everything right in the world - long shot. Very long. "Can we finally get to the point of why I'm here, as soon as you're done laughing, of course." he extended with an arrogant patience that had Scarlett wanting to laugh even harder. He was such a god!
She decided that was quite enough and straightened up - time to kick ass.

"Why exactly are you here, Mr. Valenti?" she asked with her most professional voice, shoulders straight and gaze direct.

He didn't take long to respond, "To find a mutual way for each family to get what they want."

She didn't hesitate either, "That's impossible, Mr. Valenti. We both want the house and only the authenticity of our deeds can solve this very trifling matter. I don't think you'd back down with monetary compensation, would you?"
