Are you ready for part 3 of Roxie and Ella's secret?! Well you better be because here it comes. I'm looking forward to hear if anyone guessed it right, etc. *pointed friendly but slightly expectant stare* Enjoy the new chapter, love the song to the side and the photo! It fits since its a quote from the story for Ella. Go ahead, look, you know you want to :)
“Roxie… Do you want to explain who ‘they’ are?” Ella whispered, her hands shaking on the steering wheel. They could feel it, the eyes watching them.
“Ella, why don’t you stay here, and I’ll check it out, okay?” Ella shook her head as Roxie got out of the car.
“Wait, Roxie, what if it’s something dangerous! What if it’s them?”
Glancing back over her shoulder Roxie smiled reassuringly before dashing off into the woods in the direction the wolf had gone. She could sense them, moving around her in the trees. A flash of black fur ahead mad her stop.
“Hello,” Roxie called watching as the huge wolf finally emerged before her. He looked her over once before his body shivered, the fur retracting, bones reshaping in a fluid movement back into a towering man.
“Hello, I’m Alpha Jackson Red of the Red Cloud Pack, and you must be,” He stopped waiting for her confirmation on the unspoken introduction.
“Beta Roxie Jinx of the Orchid Moon pack, Beta Hunter’s mate,” Roxie held back the smile trying to work its way to the surface.
Alpha Jackson nodded in response and looked over her shoulder. “And your friend?”
“Exactly that, a friend, human, she doesn’t know about shifters.”
“Beta Armoon said as much,” Jackson commented. “You had a follower.”
Roxie started, “It wasn’t any of you?”
Jackson shook his head in response before answering, “You didn’t see us, and we weren’t so easily tricked. I suggest you come back with us to our pack house to wait for your mate.”
“He’s coming?”
Alpha Jackson smirked and replied, “Did you think he wouldn’t?”
“I can’t say I’m disappointed really.” She tilted her head in thought. “Where is your pack house?”
“Keep going down this road, take the first left. You’re lucky you took this way, you’re closer than you think.”
Roxie nodded, “Thank you Alpha Jackson.” She headed back to the car now seeing the other wolves watching her. Most bowed their head slightly in respect. Those were wolf customs she’d have to learn, but she guessed that acknowledging her higher rank was what made her someone to respect. Beta Roxanne Jinx, she kind of liked it. Ella was waiting in the car in complete silence, not even speaking as Roxie got in the car. “Keep going, we’re fine.”
Ella started forward and Roxie began to worry as her friend continued her silence. Finally Ella spoke, “You know, we’ve been through so much together, and yet you still keep secrets from me.”
Tensing Roxie though carefully about her answer, “There’s things that aren’t my place to say. Can you understand that?”
