The day before the end

I was walking through the halls of my school completely horrified by the way some of these kids acted.

'Complete idiots', I thought to myself.

I was never the one to run through the halls or go crazy when ever the bell rang. I just minded my own business and walked straight to my next class.

That was me, Kylie Brooks. To be honest, I wasn't the most popular girl in school, but I wasn't a loser either. I did my work and tried to not get in trouble.

I was only late to class one time, and that goes to my brother Eric. Eric and his friends mess around with me sometimes, not bully me but just brotherly, sisterly push and shove.

Besides that I was a good kid.

I was on my way to fourth period, which was lunch thank you God! I walked into the cafeteria trying to find my best friend Kara. We sat together everyday at lunch, just me and her because we both agreed on the fact that everyone else was annoying chatter boxes.

Once I spotted her I quickly walked over. "Hey.." I spoke.

"Oh hi, what's up?" She asked as she scooted her bag over to give me room.

"Ug, nothing. I'm so bummed about the history project though."

"What, why?" confusion laced within her words.

"Well, it was going to be a group project with like 5 people in a group but then Mr. Walker just had to change it to a one person project." I sighed.

"Ah that sucks, sorry about that." she giggled.

I looked over at her with a sly smile, "What's got you so giggly?" I questioned.

She hid her face before answering, "Wellll...Tanner Markson kinda, sorta asked me out..."

"WHAT!" I shouted a bit to loud.

Everyone around us gave crazy looks but I didn't care. Tanner Markson was the boy that kara's had a crush on for three years, ever since eight grade.

"Im so happy for you Kara!" I said excitedly.

"Aw well thank you and guess where he asked me to go?"

I didn't respond which was her signal to continue and tell me.

"James party tomorrow night!" she said with a huge grin.

"Andddd you're coming with me!"

My head shot over towards hers, "Wait, what was that last part?"

"That I'm going to James party..?"

"No I heard that, I just wanted to make sure that I heard correctly that you said 'I was coming with' because, you know I don't do that stuff Kara." I said shocked.

"I know I know you don't but listen, this is Tanner Markson, the boy of my dreams. This may be my only chance with him and I'm definitely not going alone!" she responded.

I gave a look of uncertainty, "I'm not so sure about this. I don't even think my parents would let me go. Even if they did what if there was alcohol, or even worse drugs!? And then what if the cops come and we get arrested or some guys try to rape us??!!" I lectured.

Kara shook her head,"Kylie stop. Nothing like that will happen, and we don't have to tell you parents were going to a party. Lets just say that Janes having a little study session."

I sat thinking, "I'm not sure I can lie to my parents faces.."

"Well then let me handle it, okay?" she said with a smile.

I let out a long breath, and sunk in my seat.

The last bell of the day rung and I Breathed a breath of relief. I hated school. Wait, scratch that. I like school, just not all the work they give you.

I swear it's like the teachers don't think we have lives after school.

I walked down the hallway and towards my locker. I put in my combination, shook the lock a bit and opened the locker door. I put everything in there except my binder and history textbook.

After that I grabbed my jacket and headed towards the double doors that led to freedom.

I walked home from school almost everyday. Only on some occasions were I lucky enough to have my mom or dad pick me up.

The fall leaves crunched under my feet and a subtle wind blew my hair. A chill ran down my spine every time a car drove by.

Since It was Friday everyone was speeding away from school, hoping to get as far away as possible. As for me, I didn't really care.

I was about half way home when I saw a boy walking in my direction. He had a dark hoodie on with the hood up. It was hard to see his face considering he had sunglasses on and his head was down.

I decided to just keep walking and pay no attention, until the laughter of little kids made my head turn.

Just watching them all run and be free made me wish my childhood was as great as theirs.

Sadly, it was no where near as good.

All if a sudden I ran into someone and fell into the fence.

"Excuse me?" I said with a tone.

It was the boy I saw right before My attention was caught by the kids.

"Maybe if you payed more attention to where you were walking you wouldn't have fallen into the fence." He said with a harsh tone.

My eyes widened taken back by his outburst, "Who the hell do you think you are?" I said with a sudden confidence.

He kept walking.

So, being the stubborn Kylie I am, I caught up and got in front of him, stopping him in his tracks.

"I said who do you think you are? You can't talk to me like that, you don't even know me!!!" I shouted.

"You think you're big and bad because you skipped school or something? or that you can wear your sunglasses and be cool?"

Suddenly he grabbed my arm and started pulling me. I tried to pull out but his grip was so strong, there was no use.

"Oww, let me go you're hurting me!" I yelled.

He finally stopped dragging me until we were in an ally.

He cornered me in with one hand holding both my wrist together and the other one blocking me from being able to maneuver around his towering body.

"Now you listen to me bitch, last time I checked you ran into me. I honestly don't give a fuck who you are because to me, you're nothing. I should shoot you down for even crossing my path. If I ever see you again, you'll fucking pay bitch." he spat and shoved me away.

I was too in shock to even notice that I was alone once he left. After about 10 minutes of my mind trying to comprehend what just happened, I finally snapped out of my trance and decided to make my way home.

Once I got home, I slung my book bag off and threw my shoes in the hall way not even caring. All I could focus on was the fact that he threatened to shoot me.

He could've ended my life.

He will end my life if he sees me again.

I needed to tell somebody but I didn't know what to do. I was scared to tell Kara because sometimes things slip from her mouth. Don't get me wrong I love her to death, but she does talk.. a lot!

Usually i'd go ahead and get my weekend homework finished and done with but all I did was go to sleep.
