The Fighter In You

You remind me of
the calm before the storm
always waiting patiently
to strike before the dawn,
for the sunrise would awaken
that pure soul in you
and you'll rise like a phoenix
from the ashes, all anew.

The moonlight
in your eyes
Will guide you
through the times
For the rainbow in your heart,
Will give you strength to climb.

Never let the dusk take away
your power and might
for warriors need the energy
to fight in the night,
battling the nightmares
that seem to forever stay
yet you still conquer them all
be it night or day.

You swim through the waves
You fight through the fire
The strength inside of you,
Burns you stronger in dire.
The blood rushes
in your veins
Into the ashes
goes the pain.

You emerge, stronger than before,
tackling the inner demons
one by one, second by second,
taking down what life gave you as lemons.
Life doesn't seem as bad as it was
when all negativity sat on your broad
yet limp shoulders, and tired body
that begged you to follow the road
not travelled.

You have bled enough
In struggling against the thorns
The excruciating pain
You've dealt with all along
The zest for loneliness,
You bear it with a smile
Every time you've fallen apart,
You've stitched yourself in time.
