I moved it out from the warehouse and out into the leafy forest I had built my haven; a haven for anyone to come to if you are lost or in need of love. But of course I myself gave up on love, I only need money to pay for my heavy debts and a new house.

I dragged its heavy body to a small tool hut made from branches and mud, the traditional mud huts you see on beaches and in pretty rainforests. It emitted strange robotic sounds, but I thought nothing of it. I placed it on a wooden table and it immediately sat up with a swift motion. I huffed.

"Please state your-"

"Please state your inquiries!" I mocked its robotic female voice, shutting it up. I blinked at how obedient it was, perhaps I do have to speak to it like a person? "Could you clean this place up for starters, I have to fill out some forms."

"Order received-- order denied-- updates are needed." It twitched its head and cocked it slightly to the side, staring at me. I sighed and groaned.

"This is such crap! The entertainment robot is way simpler than this!" I huffed and snatched the manual, dragging my eyes across the section about 'updates'. I simply had to instruct it to 'update automatically' which was easy enough. "Alright, update automatically-"

"Would you like these settings to be saved permanently--or-- temporarily." Its eyes dilated and cocked its head again, tilting its strong smooth jaw up so slightly. I squinted my eyes at its unusual behaviour, but this thing was just a replacement robot for the last one that got destroyed, so I could buy a new one if it acts up. I hummed in agreement with myself.

"Permanently," I muttered and a strange beeping sound occurred, and its head hung low, before making itself limp. I huffed and stood to my feet, throwing the manual at the machine before walking out and looking up at the entrance's frame. I untied a bow that held a sheet of pink fabric in a roll above the door and I let it fall, covering the entrance like a door. I meekly walked off, stepping over leaves and branches; I needed to get to my office on the beach, I had some important work to do and I had no time to play around with a goofy cheap robot.

The moon crept up from the ocean's horizon, making me forget all about the robot I had kept in the hut back in the forest part of the island. I sighed and placed my pen down, neatening the papers.

"Brianna, you finished?" One of my workers asked me, peering from around the plain white door. I nodded bluntly and stood up, walking over to them, instantly having them move out of the way for me. I pulled out my hairband and allowed my smooth blonde ponytail to fall free. The heat on this island was often too unbearable, so I usually wear revealing clothing, such as now as I am dressed in a bikini and a short pink skirt decorated with fine tropical flowers; A lot of people think I am slutty, but they don't understand how much I hate that word and how much I hate people in general. I always have to smile and greet newcomers like some child's television presenter. I even have a fake stage name, known as 'Julie' which I despise with my soul. I brought these angered thoughts into the dark forest with me, constantly feeling this frown on my face, a spiteful bratty frown which I could care less if it made me look awful as a person.

I felt the darkness intensify, and the distant shadow of the hut grew nearer, and soon I was face to face with the pink cloth that was used as a door, although it didn't look pink anymore, it was a musky purple-blue. I opened my ears, my head shot up at the sound of strange robotic wheezes, like cries. It sounded like a drill, but more gentle and spaced out, constantly reversing in sound and texture; it was pure sadness. I swallowed and pushed the cloth to the side, seeing the robot sitting in the same position as before, however, a white-blue glow was radiating from its eyes, lighting up its whole form and the room so dimly. I scoffed and chuckled, I was stupid to think it was anything else other than the updates finishing.

"You finished updating?" I asked dumbly, walking up to it slowly. Its head perked up and it jolted its head to the side again.

"Updates have successfully been installed. All functions are--available-- to use-- these functions include washing, cooking, calculating, building, entertaining in all sectors, emotional circuits and individual pleasure--or--or--beating-" Its eyes constricted and it looked at me with a blank expression, almost blinding me with its artificial light. I felt my hands fiddle with themselves at the very last word, 'beating'.

"Beating!?" I questioned with slight shock. I looked around for the manual and saw it in its lap. I grabbed it and I couldn't see anything, which made me paranoid and frustrated. "Stupid thing!" I had this desire to beat it instead if it ever dared attacked me-- but-- at that dark thought, I felt myself smile and look at its pathetic blank face as it stared unknowingly at me.

"State your inquiries-" It spoke that annoying sentence again, but this time its tone was slanted, more like it was asking a question with slight worry-- oh I was being stupid again. I threw the manual at its face, but it didn't react, however, its eyes shut slightly momentarily, dimming the light for a short moment. "State--your inquiries-" It kept its mouth open and it jolted its head again, which-- I couldn't explain how it made me feel.

"My 'inquiry' is that could you clean this place up, it's a fucking mess," I said coldly, pointing to the mess all over the rubble floor. "Useless pile of metal," I mumbled the last line, feeling my mouth form a grin. I couldn't explain why I was acting like this, but I liked having the feeling of being rude, evil, morbid and treating it like it was inhuman, which it was, within me. It was like I needed to relieve this anger from within me on something that wouldn't take offence, it's what I needed this whole time in my miserable life.

"Cleaning-- order received--" It stood up from the table and began to pick things up, like cans, papers and old swimwear. I smiled to myself, turning away and walking back out into the dark void.
