Appearance: Back line has onky a slight arch, nose is darker than coat color, round feet have well arched toes, ears turn forward to catch sound, muscular chest is not prominent, has long legs, tail is set high and curves slightly, yellow, tan or black in color.
Not for urban living, thrives in warm weather, not good with other animals, needs exercise, good watchdog.
History: There are two possible origins of all Podengo Portugueso: The Grande, from which the Medio and Pequeño evolved, is similar to the tan-colored sighthounds, such as the Pharaoh Hound, which spread out of North Africa to the Iberian Peninsula. However, the Podengo could be a descendant of small Iberian wolves.
