The week passed slowly by and as it turned Friday it was clear to me, that I had to enjoy the company of Zack Foster in my Spanish, English and gym class. Yeah freaking great. He had not been noticeably active in the classes, but frankly I would probably act the same way if I were the new kid in shool. He always took a seat at the back row and played with his pencil, drumming it against his table. Again and again again - I couldn’t possibly finding it just absolutely dead annoying, could I?

The noise and talking in the cafeteria this Friday was back to normal and the topic on everyone’s lips was no more the two Foster brothers, as it had been talked through the entire past week. Still changed had occurred; for instance Emily and I could easily see Jessica’s ‘table’ from here, where they had now been accompanied - maybe not so surprisingly - by the very said Foster brothers. As I watched them Nathan leaned in and asked Patrick something, to to which the quarterback answered with a nod and a smile, while Jessica flew up from having been sitting on Patrick’s lap. Her blonde hair in a perfect high ponytail, as she threw her arms around Zack and gave him a long lasting hug.

Another reason why Zack Foster wasn’t exactly my favorite person these days; he just smiled at her and took a seat so they could chat. Last Wednesday Jessica had even loudly exclaimed that ‘they had to come to her party on Saturday’. What did people see in her?

“What’s up guys?” A familiar voice was heard from behind us dragging me out of my questioning thoughts.

My eyes had quickly found the slender and tall guy with the blonde messy hair and thick classic Ray Ban glasses, that he would always deny to be ‘hipster’ when I often pointed it out. I would always reply that only a true hipster would deny being hipster because being a hipster would be following the flow - and hipsters didn’t do that. So he had to be a hipster. He would always shake his head at me and tell me to shut up.

“Jonathan!” I bellowed and jumped up from my chair to embrace him in a bone-crushing hug. He threw his strong arms around me and pulled me tight making strange cute monster like noises while chuckles escaped my lips.

“How are you guys doing?” He asked with a wide smile, but Emily interrupted him; “how did it go! You got a contract already or what?” She rose to hug him too and I smiled softly watching them like that; she was just the perfect size for him as he rested his chin on her shoulder and his eyes closed briefly, while the smile suited his lips and he excited said; “hey Emse.”

Jonathan was in a band - and he was great. They were great. As it happened Emily and I had followed them from the very beginning and by now we were probably their biggest fans and went to as many of their gigs as we could manage. Considering they lived in a small town, they were actually a pretty huge deal. They had played at several clubs in the big towns in the state and had gained popularity on the Internet.

“No but really - how did it go? We’ve been dying of curiosity!” Emily continued and pulled away from him to narrow her eyes at the tall blonde lead singer and guitarist. The thing with Jonathan was - you couldn’t help loving him.

“Yeah, you better have some good news, because missing half a week of school is supposed to be productive,” I joined in and took a seat as Jonathan pulled out a chair too. He led a hand through the messy hair which had the perfect form for someone in an indie band - just messy enough that girls found it endlessly charming. I had always admired their courage to bet fully on their music career like they had done the last part of the year.

“Well New York was great - the producers we met were great and yeah as you know they were terribly interested in us,” he leaned back on the chair as if it was the most casual thing to talk about; they had used every last coin of the small money they had earned from their EP sale and doing small gigs in the city.
