Asuna was depressed the next couple days, she didn't talk much nor eat, everyone was worried about her. Yui felt like it was her fault, she wanted to make it up to her but nothing can replace what she was losing.
Kazuto got a call the next morning, it was Kikuoka, he answered it. "Hello?"
"Hello Kirigaya, I have something to talk to you about." He replied.
"What is it?"
"We can't talk here, meet me at the same restaurant when the GGO incident happened." He said frantically.
"Okay? When?" He asked knowing there was something wrong.
"How about in 15 minutes?"
"Why so sudden?"
"It's really important."
Kazuto trusted him even though Asuna didn't, he helped them so many times in the past. Plus, he was curious.
"Okay, I'll be there in a few minutes." He said as he started to head towards the door. "But can you tell me some detail before I hang up?"
Kikuoka went silent for a few seconds. "Okay, we believe that someone outside the Japan area is trying to get ahold of something. We can't tell you who it is yet but it's something illegal."
Kazuto shut his front door and ran towards his car. "Holly crap."
"You said it."
He got into his car and started his engine. "What do I have to do with this?"
"I don't want to say it on the phone because it might effect your driving."
Kazuto was still curious but he had to wait until they met up. When he arrived, he saw Kikuoka sitting at one of the tables. He waved to him as Kazuto walked over and sat down.
"So, what's up with the secrets?" Kazuto asked
"Sorry about that, I felt like the FBI was listening on our conversation."
"Don't you want the FBI to help you out?" Kazuto asked with a confused look.
Kikuoka shook his head. "I don't want them getting into a situation they don't understand. Plus, we have the spy agency with us. They will do all the tough digging and you know one of the spies, Hisaya, she will be with us as well.
"Okay but what's the situation?"
He leaned in closer to Kazuto and whispered. "The Russians are trying to get their hands on some kind of advanced technology."
"What kind of advanced technology?" He whispered back.
"It's an AI program that Kayaba and Dr. Shigemura created, mainly Kayaba."
"What kind of AI program?"
"You know this program very well, don't you have an AI daughter?" He asked with a grin.
Kazuto's eyes widened. "Is that why you called me?"
Kikuoka nodded. "They are searching for the program which is on a specific computer or the AI herself. My guess is, they want to create more AI's so they can declare war on us." He looked sadly at Kazuto. "If they get their hands on her, her life is technically over....."
Kazuto didn't say anything but his eyes were still wide. He stared at the ground, hoping that this was a dream.
"I know this is a lot to take in but-"
He was interrupted by a phone call from Kazuto's phone, he checked who it was and saw Asuna's name. He clicked the "end call" button and put his phone in his pocket.
