Y'all what's good? I haven't been here for like a billion years, so apologies to the 1 person who actually reads this. Almost done with school, I got like 3 more days left so that's pretty yeetin. Ight, enough rambling let's get on with this boi.

-Iris-

"What?"

"Choose one."

My father repeated his words, yet I still didn't grasp what was going on.

"Hahahahahahha" I burst out laughing thinking my father was playing some cruel joke on me, and I was waiting for him to me that this was just something he did so I would be "surprised" when we go to the theme park. Yet, my father's face was still a solemn as before, no cracked smile.

"This is no laughing matter Iris, I'm serious. Now pick one."

In my head all I could l think was, oh shit this is for real.

I walked over to the bed, and took a gander at what was laid out before me. Weapons. More importantly, stakes;wooden ones, mind you that, crossbows, huge machetes so clean I could see my reflection, chainsaws, you name it, it was there.

My small hands looked at the items, searching for one that fit. After a bit, they found their way over to a bow and arrow. I don't know what drew me in about it, it wasn't the shiniest, nor was it the sharpest, nor the biggest. A part of me felt drawn to it for some unknown reason.

"Finally." My dad said with a huff.

"Hey mister you were the one who dragged me out into the middle of nowhere, on my birthday much less, and made me choose a weapon from the bed of the truck. What do you even expect me to do with this? Are we hunting deer or something? "

"Not quite deer. "

The confusion in my eyes alone, was enough to make my dad burst out into laughter.

"Hey, Mr. This is no laughing matter, what's the deal?"

My dad settled himself down, and became serious again.

"Okay so this is your first hunt so I would advise you to stay near by."

"First hunt? Still haven't told what exactly it is that we are hunting."

"Vampires. Alright lets go."

I shook my head in severe confusion as to what just came out of my father's mouth. "vampires..." I whispered to myself, not quite sure of what was going on and...oh fuck. We're hunting vampires. Like this is actually happening and everything is real that's not supposed to be.

Deep in thought I realized my father had already left, and I was just standing by the truck, in the pouring rain, with a bow and arrow in my hand. I scrambled to find my dad as I headed into the woods. The raindrops hit the tree leaves with a hard smack, each one sounding as if its getting louder. In the distant I hear a chainsaw go off and immediately realize its my father "hunting" these vampires, still not sure I believe him though. I run over to the sound waiting to see my dad, but there was a sudden cold brush along the left side of my body. I didn't stop because I thought it was just the wind blows its chilly breath at me, but it happened again. This time, on the right side, as if it passed me and came back around. Now, I stopped. My eyes jerked around my head pulling it in all different directions attempting to figure out what was going on. Then I saw it, or should I say him. A man standing in front of me, a man looked so peculiar, he almost didn't seem human...because he wasn't. This was a vampire. A whole new creature I had never seen before, on I hadn't thought was even real, stood only a few feet away from me.

"Sup kid. Whatcha doing out here, all by your lonesome. These trees are dangerous ya' know."

I just stood there, not knowing what or how to feel. Was I confused? Was I scared? I was puzzled.

"Whats the matta huh? Cat got your tongue?"

Another sudden brush of cold air whipped around and stood itself next to the vampire.

"Now Jake, we don't talk to our food, we eat it."

The second one seemed to be little more prim and proper as he was dressed in a full, and the other one in regular clothes.

"Oh come on Jensen, quit being such a wet blanket mate. It's fun."

I gain back my consciousness and pull my bow and arrow up the vampires and take a shot. I missed. The vampires look back at me with evil laughter in their eyes.

"Oh look, this one has got a mind on her, might not be a right one, what do you think she tastes like eh?"

The vampires whip over to me with such speed I'm thrown off my feet. I see them towered over me, and in that moment I feel utterly useless. I never should have come, I never should have left my father's side.

My thoughts are interrupted as what appeared to be a large dog, lunged over me and tackled the vampires to the ground. I still stayed lying there on the ground confused as to what was happening.

Suddenly I cracked awake, and took note of my surroundings, the rain still pouring down heavy, and there, only a few meters away was what I suspected to be a werewolf, fighting two vampires. I did the only thing I really could do, run. I ran, and ran, my eyes making as though they were laser, cutting the trees in half looking for away out. Then it was right there, peering through the thick, wet trees was my father's black truck. I ran faster, and almost felt like I was gliding through the dense forest. I finally reached the edge of the woods, and sprinted to the truck door. To my relief, I saw my father sitting there, staring at me.

"Where has your bow and arrow gone?"

"What?"

"Your bow and arrow, where did it go?"

"My bow and arrow is right..." I trail off not realizing that I had lost it. I must have dropped it went I fell down by the vampires. What do I say?

"I must've dropped it." I saw not knowing what the correct response was.

"Okay well are you alright? You kill any vampires?"

Was that something I was supposed to do? Did I fail?

"Uh, no. But I did manage to shoot one."

"Good. See I knew you'd be good at this."

Why did I say that? When I shot I missed by a mile, was that lie a good option? Oh well, its whatever. This was the first and last hunt I'll ever go on.

My dad started up the engine , and as it began to hum, he said something I was sure I didn't want to hear.

"Next hunt is Friday, you probably can't wait seeing as you're a natural."

Shit, lying is never a good option.
