Chapter 1

I remember everything like it was yesterday. My mom got pregnant at age 17, unmarried. She told me how she became an alcoholic at age 14. To be honest with you, I'm quiet surprise I didn't suffer with any birth defects. She met my father in high school, she was a cheerleader and he was a jock. He invited her to a party he hosted, and led her to his room, and 9 months later I was born. It makes me sick thinking about it. Why couldn't my parents just have met at Harvard, lived in a nice house, had a nice job and car, and had me at 25? My father was also an alcoholic, they drank about 15 beers a day, maybe more. When I was five, that's when they would start abusing me. (flashback)"Caelen, if you don't bring your ass down here right now, I'm coming up there with the belt." Of course I didn't listen, my mom would always call me down to watch her and daddy smoke and drink, so I could be just like them. I hid under my bed crying. I was sweating and my hair was matted to my forehead. I remember hearing the footsteps approaching my door. It swung open. "Caelen, get the hell out this room now!" She roared. I put my hands over my mouth to muffle my sobs. She slowly kneeled down and looked under the bed. "You bitch!" she said grabbing my shirt and dragging me out. She had her studded belt in her left hand. She pulled me out completely and began hitting me, to the point were my legs were bleeding. She then picked me up and threw me over her back and stomped down the stairs. "I got her." My mom said breathlessly. My father roughhoused me into a chair, and taped me to it. Then he sat on the couch near me, and blew smoke into my face. I screamed against the duct tape, which was getting moist. They laughed and mocked me. "James, we were such idiots having a worthless bitch like her." my mom said laughing. "Yea, might as well sell her, put her to good use." He said taking a swig of beer. end of flashback
