I got off the bus and headed toward the local grocery market. I went around the side where the dumpsters were and sat on my suitcase. It was pretty cold that night so I wrapped my little blanket around me. "Honey, look at that girl, she's by the dumpsters, that's gross!" a woman said to her husband grimacing at me. "She's a peasant sweetheart, just ignore her, and she won't beg us for money." He replied. I've never been that hurt in my life. More people walked by, some gave me a few bucks. After an hour I ended up with $30 dollars. I can't be here, I bet they'll be looking for me here I thought. But I remembered the grocery store would give out samples everyday, so I stayed put. I grew weary and closed my eyes.

When I woke up, the sun was barely up. I hoisted my self up. I was in pain, my back ached, my head ached and my neck was stiff. I headed inside the store, there were just a few people. I scanned every aisle for samples. There was signs that said "Do not open until 9:00 am" I checked my watch: 6:15. I slowly opened the case and pilfered the food. After I ate them, I snuck out of the store and headed back to my suitcase. There were two women nearby, who looked like my mother's friends. I overheard them talking. "Yea... Anne is freaking out, she hasn't called the cops yet. She said she wants her girl back, and James..he's.. getting drunker than ever! Who would've thought that they cared about that poor girl." One of them said. I squinted my eyes. It was Mrs. Williams! My heart pounded, should I tell her I'm living by a dumpster, or stay. If I tell her, she'd tell my parents, and they'll kill me! I ended up staying put and just eavesdrop. "Lu, they don't care about Caelen, they never did. They just want her back to abuse her more. The girl ran off, and I know it wasn't far. She couldn't have made it far...she's probably in this very neighborhood." The other said. I didn't remember her. "All I know is, we shouldn't file a report, they'd harm her, where ever she is, let her be." Mrs. Williams said, and they began walking away. I sighed of relief, and sat on my suitcase. The sun came out and it was 7:30. I kept thinking of what to do...
