Aiden was being surprisingly nice the rest of the day. He made me lunch and dinner, sat down and watched a movie with me, even carried me around the house when I needed to go somewhere. I protested the first few times, but he threatened to drop me on the floor if I kept whining about it. I was careful with what I said hoping not to set him off again. Luckily the good mood lasted all day. He brought me to my room, and tucked me into bed like a child. I rolled my eyes as he did so, but made no protest.
The only thing that was constantly on my mind, was that room. I'd always been curious, but sitting here thinking if what could be inside there drove me crazy. It felt like I'd been awake for hours trying to figure out how to get in there, and what I would find inside. Drugs? Guns? Stolen money? Dead bodies in a freezer? My mind was restless even while I slept.
I woke up to voices sounding from downstairs, many were male, but there were also one or two girls. The clock read 9:23, it was really pointless to try and sleep again, so I threw off the covers and hopped off the bed. I limped over to the door and grabbed the crutches that Aiden had refused to let me use, and pulled the sweatpants up so I wouldn't trip over them and just make everything worse. Slowly I made my way down the stairs trying to make as little noise as possible. I walked to where the voices came from pausing behind the wall to listen in.
If he found me he'd probably kill me. Was it really worth the risk? If I was doing it I guess so.
"The guns are arriving Wednesday, and Bill said he would cut the price down due the the issue we had last time." an unfamiliar male voice spoke out.
"Good, make sure that shit doesn't happen again and give him half the cash since he took twice the time to get them in." Aiden spoke in an angry voice.
Guns? What the hell is going on? I backed up a few feet and covered my mouth with my hand. Was he going to kill someone? My heart rate began to slowly rise. There was a long pause of silence in the room as people began shuffling around.
"Aiden I need to see her. Please, it's been almost a week, I'm sure she is going crazy in here." I heard a familiar voice speak. My eyes widened as I stepped behind the wall and into the room.
"Kate?" my voice rang out. The room fell into silence as everyone turned to look at me. Slowly she turned to face me.
"Kara." she said in relief running over to hug me.
I was frozen in place, why the hell was she here. I broke away from her and turned to Aiden glaring at him. "What the hell did you do?" I half screamed. Everyone stared at me in shock, probably because I was screaming at the one man they all seemed to be afraid of.
Kate stepped in front of me blocking Aiden and the rest of them from my eyes. "Kara, it's not what you think, you need to let me explain." She said quietly pulling me into another room.
As we left I caught sight of about 10 other guys gathered around Aiden. Most of them looked intimidating, almost as if they wanted to make their presence known. I also saw the three men whom had locked me in the cellar. Among them I also caught sight of Brian, who shot me and apologizing glance. Anger flooded my veins until they were gone from my sight. Kate pulled me into the kitchen and sat down beside me in a chair.
"Okay I am going to explain it all, but Kara I really need you to keep an open mind, and remember that I have been your best friend forever. And I love you. Everything I've ever done was because I love you and I wanted to keep you safe." she pleaded.
I nodded numbly waiting for her to begin. "6 years ago your parents partnered up with the gang, Aiden never trusted them, so he sent me."
6 years ago. When I first met Kate.
