Jayme’s P.O.V.
The door to apartment number 469 opens and I see a tall girl, I would say about five foot, nine inches. She is naturally pretty, her long naturally straight black hair reached her mid back, and her dark brown eyes look good with her dark hair. She flashes Gab and me a smile and extends her arms into my personal bubble for a hug.
“Hi girls, are you our roommates?”
I could tell right away, from the moment she started speaking, that she was American, specifically from New Jersey. Those accents are pretty heavy.
“Yeah, we are!” I excitedly respond after pondering her accent.
The girl made a face, clearly making the connection that we aren’t American but in fact, Canadian.
Once she finishes embracing Gab, she introduces herself.
“Hi, I’m Samantha, one of your roommates! Well, you guys can call me Sam, it’s easier. Sorry, I didn’t catch your names!”
I laugh only because she never gave us the opportunity to introduce ourselves.
“Hi, I’m Gabrielle, call me Gabie or Gab.” Gab speaks before me, smiling at me reassuringly.
“Hi, I’m Jayme!” I say after Gab.
“Hello Gab and Jayme, welcome to London! The other girls and I only arrived a couple of minutes ago, so we’re all unpacking. I think the other girls are in their rooms if you want to say hi and get to know them!”
Sam lets us enter the apartment, it is beautiful.
Gab’s P.O.V.
Jayme and I are in awe; the apartment is beautiful. One of the walls, leading out to the balcony, is made of all glass windows and doors, allowing access to outside. The family/living/kitchen space is extremely open and big; this apartment looks much better in person than online.
Sam shows us the stairs that lead upstairs to the second floor full of bedrooms. The two closest bedrooms weren’t taken, so Gab and I occupy them. These two bedrooms happen to share a bathroom. I drop my heavy suitcases on the floor of my new bedroom as I lay my body onto the mattress. This day has been so tiring already, but I knew unpacking was a must. Before I unpacked, I decide that meeting the other girls is important, especially because I will be living with them for the next three months. I walk into the first bedroom on the right that happens to have its own bathroom. I walk in to see a girl on her Mac laptop, looking as if she was busy on either Twitter or Tumblr. I lightly knock as the girl looks up at me.
“Hello, I’m Katie.” She lightly smiles.
Another American girl, two Americans and two Canadians so far. Interesting.
“Hi, I’m Gabrielle, or you can call me Gab.”
“Canadian, right?”
“American, right?”
She laughs, confirming her ethnicity.
“Well,” I say, “Nice meeting you Katie!”
“You too Gab,” she responds.
I walk out of her room, Katie seems like a sweetheart. I walk into the other room, seeing Sam and she waves and smiles cheekily. I walk to the last bedroom on the left to see another girl listening to her iPod, singing along to Louis’ solo in “Moments.”
Hands are silent, voice is numb. Try to scream out my lungs but it makes this harder and the tears stream down my face.
I secretly laugh to myself, I would have never guessed she is a One Direction fan from first glance. All of a sudden, she looks up and her cheeks turn as red as tomatoes. She avoids eye contact with me.
